So one of the lead artists for halo wars 2 released a bunch of his work for the game including never-before seen UNSC units including variants of the Spartan. Seems to me this is hinting at the possibility of a Spartan-Heavy faction lead by the chief in prototype armour. Dont believe me? check the links above which have concept art

Banished leaders would be good yes but we know the UNSC will be getting a mini campaign of some sort

mabye the chief will be a leader that comes with said campaign?

I was literally about to post a thread about how cool it would be if master chief was the next leader! He’s got the perfect voice. I don’t think it would be possible to get sick of ‘all units’ ‘local units’

Thing is with the voice actor strike any dlc with him might not be able to get Steve Downes, i’ve heard its the reason they couldnt get David ckully in to play Johnson

I’m hoping for more Banished leaders to even things out.

Master Chief would be an appropriate leader for those units, I did see references to a Flame Spartan in the game files before but I thought it was just a skin for the Spartans.

It’s most likely that these were going to be in the game but were cut. 343 or any gaming company wouldn’t let their artists release content like that without their approval. If you look it’s stuff that’s already in the game so I suspect the Chief won’t be in HW2

Well seeing the art work it could definitely happen. I would love chief being in halo wars. It’s within the timeline. I am just going to throw a theory out there and say the campaign missions will be about lasky and his crew since they warped away from earth to any destination, it would match up perfect. One can hope because I heard in halo 6 343i did say the banished was going to be in it.

funnily enough the images got both scrubbed from the artist page as well as his deviant art page…

Yes it is official that we will be getting 2 leaders, they said as much in Reddit and the last stream.

I’m sure we are going to have a Banished leader next, sketch said this was some concept testing, my take is that this was either the runner up for being the leader that Johnson eventually was, or that (and this what I’m personally hoping for) 343/CA mid-development for this units decided to make them units for a Spartan Leader that will be the leader of the UNSC campaign.

As for your Banished leader, I’m almost positive that at least 1 of the leaders in June is going to be Banished, since that’s the schedule that 343/CA are sticking to

Isn’t one of the purposes of the Mjolnir IV and onward to not be giant bulky armor with pre-attached weapons like those designs?..

Don’t get me wrong, I love Spartans, but I can’t imagine John-117 wearing that Prototype-esque armor, nor can I imagine any of the other Spartan IIs wearing those types of armor. Spartan IVs are essentially just cheaper and more efficient to produce Spartans with even lighter weight armor with more variability. Designs are cool, but not for Spartans I don’t think.

Yeah considering there are only 4 out of the 10 or 11 we have now.

Also that image of the Retriever Sentinel further down the page. Seriously, just make every Promethean unit look like that. That is amazing. It looks like a reaper. :smiley:

I kind of which they went with designs like these in the full release. This game does look a bit cartoony at times.

It adds protection and is likely more of a vehicle [like the prototype suit] then mjolnir. I prefer it alot over the ‘anorexic’ armour we see during halo 4 and many of the 5 designs
