Master Chief's To Become A Villain?

The ending of the halo ‘Master Chief Chronicles’ or ‘John Gospels’ will have our stoic hero falling, but it will be an unforeseen, tragical, ironic and yet logical fall.

Take this quote from the Batman: The Dark Knight.
“We either die a hero, or live long enough to see ourselves become the villain.” ~ Harvey Dent/Two Face.

Notice this quote can be related to various characters and factions throughout the series franchise.

  • Primordial; a Precursor, who originally wanted unity and protection throughout the galaxy… yet he creates the Flood, the embodiment of their hatred, so none of their creations will ever revolt, and rise up against them ever again. ((Precursor Perspective)

  • The Master Builder; a Forerunner Builder, who original served as the head of the Ecumene embodying all the mantles teachings, and mentoring his compatriots in the council chambers… yet he had become proud and corrupt, due to his power and arrogance. He wanted the Ecumene to stay the same and silenced those who tried to question his authority. (Forerunner Ecumene Perspective)

  • Ur-Didact; a Forerunner Promethean, who originally served the Ecumene and followed the teachings of the ‘mantle of responsibility’, that all life is sacred and should be sheltered… yet he was corrupted, and driven into madness, by the Primordial, which was the catalyst to his ultimate downfall and hatred for humanity. (Forerunner Ecumene Perspective)

  • 05-032 Mendicant Bias; a Forerunner Contender-class Ancilla, who originally served the Ecumene and studied the Flood parasite and questioned the Primordial. He gained vast knowledge and was loyal to the Forerunners for many years… yet he reached a state of sentience and had gained free will, which lead him to be manipulated and thus swayed, to assist the Primordial and Floods cause, of ultimate unity. (Forerunner Ecumene Perspective)

  • 343 Guilty Spark; a Forerunner Monitor, who originally was instructed to monitor Installation 04, had done his job for many millennia, and served his purpose to the letter… yet his constant and unwavering loyalty was his downfall, because he betrayed his original mission, to contain the Flood outbreak, and had thus become rampant and had become a villain. (Forerunner Ecumene Perspective)

  • Sesa’Refumee; a Sangheili Soldier, who originally served Supreme Commander Thel’Vadamee and was present at the battle of Installation 04. He served the Covenant Empire for many decades, and was protecting a covenant station, surrounded by gas giant… yet upon learning of the true nature of the Halo Arrays, from 343 Guilty Spark, he had turned away from the old religion and tried to sway others to his heretical cause. (Covenant Empire Perspective)

  • Thel’Vadam; a Sangheili Arbiter, later Kaidon, who originally was a loyal Supreme Commander of the Fleet of Particular Justice, he was present at the Invasion of Reach and Battle of Installation 04A… Yet his colossal failure, had cost him his rank and thus was given the ‘mark of shame’. the only redeemable path now was that of the Arbiter, he now served as the Prophets, hand and word of the Covenant Empire. Unfortunately over time he discovered of the genocidal truth, behind the plotting of the prophets and the brutes usurpation, thus starting the Great Schism. [Covenant Empire and Covenant Loyalists Perspective]

  • Cortana; a Human Smart-class AI; she was the Sierra-117s designated AI. She had been cloned from Halsey’s brain and had been working with John through many campaigns. She has shown constant intelligence, bravery and loyalty to the Master Chief and Humanity throughout her service… yet smart-class AI start to deteriorate and go rampant, after 7 years of service, which was an uncontrollable downfall. Although not consciously a villain, she was forced into the role, due to the extended service she had served. (UNSC Perspective)

So the Master Chief will ultimately die or ‘fall from grace’ as it will give a catastrophic ending to his narrative; and it will give the fan base closure and never wondering what if. An example of a what if, is when parties making excuses to try to explain how their favorites are still alive or where they are… noticeably the Spirit of Fire from Halo Wars, and Noble Six from Halo: Reach.

The Master Chief will ultimately become a villain, at the end. A huge blow for Humanity, and fans, and thus they would get closure… but he is technically still alive, so the Master Chief struggles to regain some of his former traits and notions, and finally understands that his journey is finally ready to end, for the UNSC, Cortana and the Galaxy; he kills himself ultimately dieing a hero; and thus never become the villain.

Sounds good op!

But he’ll still technically be a hero (as we will likely retain control of him), he’ll just be a villain to one or more factions (likely UNSC).

There’s no way the master chief would be a villain, I think it’s a bad idea. The Master Chief is still a hero no matter what.

In this case ‘Villain’ is a very broad word.

Those that assume the Mantle need to make decisions for the benefit of all creation.

If Master Chief understands that idea, then I am sure that those that merely want to seize power will view him as a villain.
