I don’t think anyone can make any real determination on his loyalty yet.

Still, I doubt he is actually a traitor.
It is probably complicated, but I can’t see him breaking bad and being a traitor.
Possibly. We still don’t know why Chief abandoned the UNSC. The last time we saw him, he just disobeyed Lord Hood’s order to take some leave. I think it’s likely that he couldn’t bear the thought of not being in battle for long periods and disagreed with the way the UNSC/ONI were handling something. It’s also likely that he went on a personal mission to revive Cortana with the help of Blue team. So after these reports of “anomalies” started surfacing, Chief decided to tackle it himself.
I still don’t believe John is a traitor. Unless proven otherwise, I will believe that he is still the John we know.
Perhaps he is both.
Is Edward Snowden a traitor for revealing NSA surveillance secrets? Some say he was loyal to the protection of privacy bestowed within the constitution, and thus a patriot and a hero. Others say he is a traitor to US interests, a betrayer of his sworn word to protect secrets, and a breaker of legally binding non disclosure documents. IMO Edward Snowden is simultaneously both.
