In the Halo 4 campaign, there’s a scene where the Librarian activates a genetic sequence in the Master Chief to provide him with immunity to the Composer.
I’ve been thinking about this- In Greg Bear’s Forerunner trilogy, whenever a previously imprinted human interacts with the Forerunners, they seem to have ancient human personalities awoken within their DNA, developing split personalities and sometimes being taken over.
Could the Chief’s genetic activation wind up awakening a second ancient identity? This would be a pretty bizarre version of Cortana’s voice in Chief’s head, and maybe a possibility in Halo 5.
Since a lot of other elements in the Forerunner Trilogy got used in Halo 4, could this be featured as a Halo 5 plot point?
What does anyone else think of this idea?
Or maybe she imprinted him with the Ur-Didacts imprint which may explain why John was able to hear him in his head. Maybe the Ur-Didact wasn’t “telepathically” talking to him but instead it was the imprint of him coming alive in John? And librarian imprinted him to learn the motives behind the Ur-Didact.
take this a step further and look at the bigger picture. As we know the Ur-Didact is the only one to have vitally important information given (I believe it was timeless one? Correct me if wrong) to him by the timeless one. Something so vital it drove the Ur-Didact to madness. Now maybe that information lives within John.
Despite how much I like 343i and all this new stuff, I actually think it’s a little too cool of an idea for a game company to integrate. But we’ll see, it’d be very cool to see something like this.

If they do I want it to be the toughest battle John has fought. Mentally. I want to see him suffer. I want to see himself going mad arguing with the ancient voices in head trying to keep “himself” alive in his body own body, but exactly who is he? Does he even remember anymore? Through this John finds who he really is
Personally, I want this to happen. It would make a fascinating replacement for Cortana internally guiding the Chief without being “just another AI”.
Besides, the internal conflict would give a real intense side to the Master Chief, especially if he and the other personality have conflicting plans and goals.

hmm so he serves as an allie but then a villain to John. I like it. And not to mention what will the UNSC think of this? You heard Del Rio comment on Johns condition already. An aging Spartan. What if blue team is deployed with John as well? How would they handle this. Would they trust John? Imo I think they would. Maybe not at first though.

LOL they would trust him any damn time, even more than Cmdr.Shepard being trusted by her crew. To add that, 117 is considered to be the ‘defacto’ leader of all badass Spartan IIs.

If the Chief abandons the UNSC to go chasing after Cortana as the Halo for Xbox One trailer implies would they trust him completely on the spot?
Not saying that it’s not a valid possibility that they will willingly go wherever John may lead them if he attempts to go on a personal quest that doesn’t involves the UNSC’s and Humanity’s best interest. It certainly is.
But it’s still just as equal of a possibility that the Spartans may be torn between going on a personal quest and serving the UNSC and humanity directly.
Quality of writing and actual execution aside (as in the case of the poor execution of attempting to portray doubt for characters who weren’t with Cmdr. Shepard over the course of ME2) the current circumstances surrounding the Chief and his current doubts at the end of Halo 4 open up the viability for that sort of conflict to emerge.
I feel like you’d be setting yourself up at risk for disappointment if you’re dead set on believing that they’ll snap up at the chance to follow the Chief on a wholly personal quest.
More directly on topic, it would be fascinating to know what went into the process of planting in John the ability to become immune to the composer prior to it being unlocked by the Librarian and if all (or a select few) humans have the potential to become immune as well if they were similarly accelerated.
I’d like to refresh this topic. Here it is 2018 and Halo 5 has been around. There is no sign of the generic alteration having any affect on John. Is there a big pot whole here? Or, is it reserved for 6?

Some say that other of the genetic alterations is the contact with the Domain
