I absolutely LOVE the fact that they’re going back to a more classic armor design for Master Chief in Infinite, but if there’s one thing I hope they fix that was a problem for back then (Halo 3)… I hope they get his body proportions to be that of a normal person.
What I mean by this is, look at a picture of Master Chief from Halo 3, his head is smaller compared to the proportions of a normal person’s. Also, his shoulders protrude out so far. There may be more, but those were two notable ones I remember.
Well, if they do a good design, that kind of problems will not happen
Third time’s a charm! They better nail everything this time around. I’m sure they will make Halo great again!
I have faith in 343i.

In your opinion do you think that they fixed the proportion problems in the Halo 4 and 5 armor?

In a couple of ways yes. The shoulders aren’t dislocated and popping out sideways. While I hate how super low the shoulderplates are on the biceps, they did do that to try to reduce clipping and make it look more like the Spartans can properly rotate their arms up and sideways.
But I feel that the base Spartan undersuit model (the guy/gal under the armor) is a bit too slim (especially the limbs). It’s a little better in Halo 5, but I hope in the future, Spartans can find an athletic body size in between the lanky H4/5 version and H2/3’s dislocated shoulder boi. There is also the aforementioned really low shoulder armor and lack of codpieces on much of the modern armor.
im sure modern development will fix any problems, dw!
I guess that explains the LE helmet from Halo 3! All humor aside, proportions never occurred to bother me in Halo (with the exception of CEA, which all just seems slightly off).
I’m sure they’re paying due attention to this element of design in Infinite.
For those saying that is canon breaking since chief is using the Mark 6 in H4 and 5, lets just say thats actually Mark 7, but its the same design from Halo 3 and 2. Reason for the change? Cortana can easily hack into the armour, in fact she did it once during the ghost run in H4, she added the shield energy of johns suit to boost the ghosts speed.

If they eventually went back to the original Halo CE design, I’d be happy. I always hated the armor in Halo 2. To me, it was like an old, well put together steel car that eventually became plastic and hallow in comparison.
To this day, Halo CE remains the best designed Halo and the graphics and weapons in the game actually look and sounds like they are made of metal!
At the very least, make the chief and other spartans look like metal, that’s all I ask!

Let’s not make assumptions before the actual information is made available. Nothing’s “canon-breaking” because canonical events of Infinite haven’t happened yet.

Cortana “hacked” Chief’s suit while her matrix was inside the suit. Considering that Chief recognizes her as an enemy (or at least a threat), there’s no way he’d allow her back into his suit. Therefore, I don’t think the reasoning behind the design change will be represented in canon as “because she could hack his old suit”. For all we know, this new look represents the same suit, just changed due to artistic license (which was the true reasoning behind the change in design from H3 to H4).
To me Halo 1, 2 and 3 had the best armour… I can’t stand the Halo 4 and 5 armor… The shoulder pads being on the biceps, that design just bothers me. It makes Master Chief look like a wanna-be fighting game samurai. The armour in Halo 1, 2 and 3 were just way more sleak, way more smooth and more video-gamey…
Master Chief isn’t a war hero/ solider to me. He is a video game character in an extremely fictional world that is nothing like Call of Duty. Ala Mario, Samus or Kratos, he is a video game mascot to a video game franchise who should go back to the armour that people know him for, that look is what made him famous
Whoa that’s a good point! Didn’t realize it at first…
I hope for a new armory “level” where it introduces the new armor again lol

It never really bothered me either until I tried making a real-life Mark VI suit. lol

I agree, redesigning is fine so long as the fans agree with it, and I think for the most part that the fans did not agree with the Halo 4 armor change in the slightest.
My hope is they will make them look like Red team from Halo wars. They had the best gritty military mixed with future tech in my opinion.
Will be interesting to see when the game is released.
The proportions of Chief’s armour being slightly out is the least of this game’s worries…But they’ll go for what they think looks best, even if it’s a little unrealistic.
