The first thing I noticed about the Master Chief in the game engine demo was how skinny those legs look. You could even say they look feminine. I have not seen a thread on this, so what does the rest of the community think ?
If it is John, it’s an odd look imo.
I think it’s the classic looking armor. In halos 1-3, chief didn’t look as massive as he does in halos 4 and 5. In my opinion, it’s because of the armor design. I like both looks but it’s hard to tell from the infinite teaser.
You can’t really see the Chief’s bulk when he’s covered in armour. It makes sense for Spartan IIs to be lean or toned rather than overly bulky. They’d still look extremely muscly and huge compared to a normal person underneath the armour, even a bodybuilder, but they’re not slow, broad, overly beefed-up deadlifters. Spartan IIs are well-proportioned. They’re extremely strong, but they’re also extremely fit and agile. Kelly is supposed to be the fastest human ever. You can’t achieve that if you’re walking around looking like a balloon animal.
His legs look identical to how they did in Halo 3 in my opinion.
Normal size, they may have seemed larger because of the h4 armor.
H4/5 armour is much bulkier. I like his look but wouldn’t mind if they bulked up the armour a bit, looks a tad thin right now.
Looked pretty normal to me given SPARTANs are supposed to be supersoldiers meaning they need endurance. Too much muscle uses a ton of oxygen just in a short period of time hence why you see that weightlifters really look like they couldnt run for much of an distance. Large muscles are more for doing something heavy for a moment.
For one if you think about real life soldiers that have positioning on a job that requires doing missions with long distances they look rather normal on their size.
And that could be one reason SPARTANs are more of a fit looking rather than bulky. In addition to the strength they also need agility and endurance.
In the trailer it looked like the first armor of Master Chief
I have to agree with MIKA on his size, besides they still can change anything they want at this point. It’s just a little to early to say that he will look the same way as he did in the teaser.
I have to agree on this, I also found it to be a bit weird.
We can’t really talk about his whole body since we didn’t see it, but his leg definitely seems to be lacking “normal” muscle mass. Especially weird with the context of him being an augmented super soldier. I know he’s not supposed to look bulky, but he looks borderline underweight in the trailer, which is odd.
Yep, thinner indeed. I dislike that look, loos like a Fornite skin.

Thank you, I’m happy not to be the only one thinking the legs are thin. My immediate thought was that it was a female spartan, my wife watched the Xbox conference with me and she agrees that those legs are thin.
Intersting comments throughout the thread, keep it coming fellow Waypointers.
This wasn’t the armor or the angle, the legs are indeed much skinnier and it was the first thing I noticed.
With that said, I’m confident the level of detail will increase and they will properly proportion the Chief. His proportions should absolutely be more muscular without being too much like a body builder (and there’s a large gap between where we are at vs being too big)
Some say it’s the armour…
I say Mr.117 needs to stop skipping leg day.
Listen John, just because your busy saving the galaxy from evil artificial intelligence doesn’t mean you can just skip leg day. No excuses.

Yeah they didn’t look odd to me at all… Just a more classic art style with older armor.

It’s definitely not the armour. I’m talking the way the legs looks in the undersuit. They definitely look skinny. Happy you see it too.

Eh, I still think they’re the same. Chief’s legs were always skinny in Halo 2-3.

His legs always seemed to have a chuky look, they seem skinny in the engine demo imo. I’m not overly concerned though, the Infinte trailer was an engine demonstration, it’s just an observation.

Yeah I guess we’ll get a better look when we get some actual gameplay.
