Master Chief's armor is Mark VI?!

When the announcement trailer first came out I joked and said they were going to ignore his armor change and just say Cortana changed him while he slept. It turns out I was right? I cant believe his new armor is explained with Cortana modified him as he was in cryo. Am I the only one who finds this explanation for the new armor lame as hell?

Not really, it’s easy to get bored during 7 of being stranded on a ship.

You misunderstand. Cortana changed the firmware in his armour, the software, which explains the new HUD. The actual armour itself is the same. The reason it looks different is due to artistic liberties taken by the new studio.

I find it a little odd that an AI could completely undress a half ton Spartan, grab some new armor laying in the closet and cloth him… and he never even knew.

Cortana modified his firmware, not his actual armour.

its only a teaser showing what 343 have in mind for halo 4 imsure chief’s armor will be his halo 3 suit at he begining

“artistic liberties” …I hope you are joking. To ignore the previous look of Master Chief is a slap in the face to every Halo fan since 2004s armor change.

No it won’t be.

You can’t take liberties that big when building upon such a massive and successful story. Magically changing the entire way the armor looks is not something acceptable for the Halo franchise.

IMHO “Forerunner x-ray vision” pretty much confirms that MC’s armor gets some Forerunner upgrades - either from the infinity, or from a forerunner source. either way he won’t wake up in an all new armour.

Everything changed between Halo CE and 2 with no reason other than it was a new game. I don’t see the problem here. It’s just a graphical upgrade on the Chief’s armour.

But they explained the armor change at the beginning of halo 2. It sounds like in Halo 4 it is the same armor but looks different because of “artistic liberties”…

Actually, in the first cutscene of Halo 2, the Chief is shown upgrading to Mark VI from Mark V. It’s pretty explicitly a different model of armour.

I, being a Halo fan since Halo 1 came out, do not see it as a slap in the face. It would be more of a slap to the face if they hadn’t changed the armour.

Why not? It’s a different studio, they should definitely be doing their own thing and making Halo their own instead of copying everything Bungie did.

The change from Halo CE to Halo 2 was explained through the story. In Halo 4 it seems that it was just space magic.

I don’t mean the Chief’s armour. I mean to look of the weapons, the Elites, Grunts and all the other enemies, the vehicles. Everything got a graphical upgrade. Same thing with Halo 3. The Grunts changed a lot since Halo 2.

Just look how much the Pillar of Autumn changed since CE to Reach. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone complain about that.

The armor isn’t changing…your TV and the utilization of xbox’s processing power is getting better.

Or, Cortana is a pretty resourceful girl; I wouldn’t put it past her that she was able to build something to polish up/modify the armor exterior a bit.

I’m not sure if people are serious when saying that it’s critical to Halo that the armor look exactly the same as it did before. We should go back to original xbox graphics to use the halo: CE master chief? Or maybe take it back even further, just a green box, to keep it pure and away from any artistic input.

Ok so for every new game that releases for any franchise they should be able to change the way a character looks and never have to explain it…ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Might has well give him four arms and say he is from mars. Artistic liberty right?

I think their explanation is pretty good.

They never explained why the Grunts, Elites, the Flood or the Banshees changed throughout the games other than it was becasue they upgraded the graphics.
