Master Chief's armor in Forward Unto Dawn

Im shocked on how well put together FUD is looking. It has a great cast, credible producers and special effects artists, it is just incredible. Theres only one thing that bugs me.

Master Chief looks just… bad. I love everything about his armor… EXCEPT his incredibly large chin piece and the large 117 lettering.

Im guessing the armor is Package Mark IV, and the only thing that looks bad is the chest plate and the helmet. I never liked the package armor, and i dont understand why they didnt use the regular Mark IV. It looks so much better, it doesnt have 117 printed in font 2000 and the chin in the helmet isnt pushed forward so much.

Mark IV armor from Halo Wars (the on i prefer)-

Who agrees?

You mean Bad… -Yoink-
But seriously, the tinting on the visor is just right!

Most of the armor looks good to me. It’s just that the lower part of his helmet, under the visor, seems a bit to long to me. I kind of wish they would shorten it. Other than that, it looks pretty sick!

I prefer the Halo Wars Mk. IV actually. The Legends Mk. IV looks too much like a Mk. VI somehow… probably because of the helmet and the chest plate.

I really really would have loved it if they had the Mark IV from Halo Wars, but I’m appreciative of what they’ve done so it doesn’t bug me as much.

I personally think that the armor makes Master Chief look more “beefy” I guess you could word it. He actually looks like he could stomp in an elite’s face and even better yet, a forerunner. It was something that they chose because it suited what he was doing more. While the Mark IV Spartans from Halo Wars look pretty badass, they aren’t as big as the armor in FUD, and as I’ve said before, they probably wanted something to make him look more intimidating.

Sorry but the pics of the marines look… well… I can see now why Chief keeps having to save humanity…

Chiefs armor rocks! I really loved the design of the IV from package. Marines could use a re-design… Chief needs to save humanity from bad fashion first!

Yea, the chin part of the helmet seems too big. And the giant 117 feels out of place.

I see no problem with the marines. They look pretty cool! (except the fact that their visors are sun glasses(?) and how the helmets are not proportional to their head)

Helmets look fine to me. My problem is how it looks like they’re wearing Kevlar vests, instead, well, this.

Also, they look like they slapped some “armor” over some white pajamas instead of fatigues. They just don’t LOOK like militaristic.

EDIT: Just took another look at the movie poster. Jeez, those helmets DO look disproportional, although, this could be attributed to the fact that they are young cadets.

Master Chiefs armor looks kinda bad because of the frames per second. The higher the frames the less visual effect look good. The lower the frames the better. Example, HD TV shows are recorded in 50p/60p while most movies are shot in 24p/25p.

Dude. That would be a lame excuse at best, but… we’re talking about a screenshot.

This.

Seriously, though? your blaming the FPS on the armor looking bad?

Were talking about physical characteristics of the suit as shown in the screenshots.

The movement of the suit, is a whole different matter, for a different day.

I do agree, I would have preferred the Halo Wars Mark IV.

I’m really not liking the Chief so far. I think they should have just CGI’d him because a man in a suit just looks plain silly to me. I don’t think you can ever match the fluid motions of a Spartan in-game in a real life suit. Not in this century at least.
That, the different voice and the fugly Legends armor just make me unable to relate to him as the Chief. The rest looks great though.

Consistency.

That were no Marines. They were cadets to be trained as military leaders in the insurrectionist wars. That’s why they look different.

I think they did well on the armor. It looks like the Legends Mark IV. On the poster, the chin really looks too long though.

I think they did not take the HW Mark IV because Chief never wore that armor. He wa a special Spartan. That is why he needs a special Mark IV MJOLNIR armor.
And I also think that the Legends Mark IV armor has similarities to his armor in Halo 4. One more thing that ties Halo 4 FUD with the HALO 4 game.

Yeah that bothered me at first too, but I figured this is a military academy so these are just kids in training to be marines. Hope they get some Mean and Green marines in there somewhere, watching a bunch of kids the whole time would get annoying.

I personally like the FUD/Package armour. Looks amazing. We’re finally getting a good live-action series, people! Let’s not show our appreciation by picking apart the fine details.
