Master Chief was gifted with immortality?

:SPOILER: Okay so I have this friend that always thinks he’s right and will never say otherwise and he was saying today that the gift that the Librarian gives to Master Chief in that one cut scene is the power of immortality and that he’s special and the only one who gets it or something like that. I personally do not think that this is the case at all so his argument was telling me to read the books. So is this true in any of the books or even in the game??

hmm… could be possible. but. all that lives is born to die

well I thought she just gave him some immunity to the Diadect or something

There’s always an Achilles heel

I suppose he could be immortal.

She gave him immunity to the Composer, not immortality.

I’m pretty sure that gift was just the ability to resist being composed by the Composer. At least that was my understanding of it.

No it’s not true.

The Librarian speeds up evolution for the Chief to access an immunity to the Composer.

EVERY human has this immunity, but humans have not evolved enough to access this gene in their DNA.

Chief is by no means immune to death.

Quick note, the Librarian specifically notes the immunity to the composer, but I think “among other things” was said, so we don’t completely know what our newly evolved Chief is capable of.

Also life lesson, tell your friend to accept he is wrong every once in a while, or he will have a lot of trouble creating strong relationships that will last.

I believe she just altered his genetics to make him immune to the composer (Big thingamajig, killed off the scientists)

My understanding is that when the librarian was cataloging humans for repopulation, she hid in our genes something to make us immune to the composer. She did this because the didact was using the composer to turn us into prometheans.
This immunity exsists with in all modern humans, but it must be unlocked.
The librarians AI unlocked this immunity in said cut scene.

I say he isnt immune to getting shot and growing old and dying that way however I do think that he could be immune to diseases now, grows older slower now and such since he is a more evolved human.

they made it so he couldn’t get composed like on the 7th mission when everyone else did

This. Like when he’s on the space station and cortana fails to stop the composer from activating and everyone at the space station gets turned to prometheans. The librarian granted him the ability to withstand the composers power. Hence why he survives and everyone else on the base dies.

Immunity towards the Composer was only one gift amongt several/many.

The gift was to accelerate his human path of evolution… the ‘genesong’ within him was the key.

This meant that the composer did not recognise his biological form (like cortana says ‘you’re bio reading are off the scale’)

Simply put, the composer is a massive machine that digitizes life in to a digital counterpart…

think of it like a delete statement delete *.exe will delete all the executable files on your computer… but what if you change the extension of master chief to *.117… well the delete function cant find him… you havent instructed/programmed it to reconize the 117 type etc…

i like this part of the story

I think it’s a little too over the top if they make chief like that.

Okay thank you! I knew he was wrong because I remember the Librarian saying that this gift is in all humans.

Special thanks to this Spartan

as long as halo makes money the chief will live on

Of course he is the only one who gets it, because no one else is that stupid and can misunderstood such an obvious cutscene.

The Librarian only granted him immunity to the COMPOSER. Thus why Chief was the only survivor on the space station in mission 7.

Tell your friend he is in denial and that the books have nothing to do with Chief being “Immortal”.
