I believe Master Chief is on the Absolute Record and here’s why.
HALO ESCALATION SPOILERS AHEAD!
In the most recent issue of Halo Escalation released on March 25th, Halsey manages to escape Sarah Palmer. And in the process she also gets the other half of the Janus Key. Now Jul and Halsey are headed to the Absolute Record. So what if Master Chief already found the Absolute Record and is there in the E3 2013 trailer? And then in Halo 5 he meets up with Halsey on the Absolute Record along with Jul, Arbiter, and Agent Locke.
What do you guys think?
You didn’t actually explain why you think Chief is already on the Absolute Record. You just recapped the latest issue of Escalation then said “what if Chief is already there?”
Nevertheless I believe you are on the right track. Even though the Absolute Record story is continuing in Escalation in June and July, I believe part of Halo 5’s story will involve everyone racing to get there, Chief, Locke, Halsey, Jul, Palmer, Infinity, maybe the Didact rolls up as well, etc.

I think if they started the game off of a premise explained elsewhere, they’d be stupid. I think if they explained the importance of the downtime between games in a quick cutscene, that’d be insulting and lackluster. I think the connection should either be deliberately small, or they should write halo 5 in a way where it doesn’t rely on that information, but it helps and adds context and weight to the plot.
I also remember reading an article that said Halo Escalation’s story is leading directly into Halo 5. I guess we will just have to wait for when Escalation is done
That would be a good showdown. Jul vs. Arby, and if Locke tries to kill Cheif, Chief vs. Locke. Arby would probably seriously injure/kill Jul 'Mdama and then a cutscene with Arby trying to settle Locke and the Chief, or if Locke refuses, he would be killed. But I don’t see 343i, with all the effort put into Locke’s character (Heck, he’s a playable character, and they made a show JUST ABOUT HIM), just kill him in the 1st Halo he’s featured. Then they would track down Halsey and the Janus Key and stuff like that
Possible conclusion to H5?
Based on the HUGE amounts of clues that 343i has given (sarcasm), you never know
