Ok so the belief is that Master Chief in dead, correct? So he is alone, really alone. And he take orders from who?
No one.
He is left to his own instincts. The UNSC won’t be giving him orders. 343 really has a clean slate in someways with the story arc. Master Chief from the order taking he normally does and make his own choices. He is going to have to change and adapt.
OK so the Jack Bauer reference is because I like him, AND I think what he goes through, when going rogue, could be somewhat like what the Chief goes through, he’s going to die, no wait he’s dead, no other people are dying and who did this… MASTER CHIEF.
Ok you can beat me now.
(this really what going some place in my head but, uh, oh never-mind.)
I kinda get where you’re coming from. I’ve never watched 24, but I get the idea you’re trying to explain. Master Chief really has always been just an extension of some military power. True, he’s made his own decisions tactically, but goals and rules had always been set by someone else. Now he needs to figure things out for himself (with the help of a semi-rampant Cortana, who will probably only complicate things) and come to his own conclusions, rather than have someone tell him what to do.
This makes me wonder (I know its been “debunked” but I still like toying with the idea) that if the one rumor turns out to be true, and part of the game revolves around a civil-war type of scenario within the UNSC, that you’ll end up getting to choose sides (which obviously wouldn’t change the ending outcome of the game, but just make it a slightly different experience depending on which route you take) which, in all honestly, would be a pretty good idea on 343i’s part. I’ve always loved the Halo storyline, and everything about it, but I still can’t really bring myself to play campaign too often, since it becomes boring and repetitive.
Wow. I thought the same thing. I really hope they add this dynamic, it would make it more their game. It would be risky and gutsy on their part.
