master chief face

will 343 industries show the master chief face in a future game?

I wouldn’t put it past them to show his face in the final Halo that they release, but I don’t think they will show Fred, Linda, or Kelly’s faces either. They probably want to keep up the SPARTAN-II no identity thing with them all.

Yeah I also think that would ruin the saga and the mystery of his face, and it would be different play and know his face that play without knowing his characteristics that makes that we put in his role.
good night!!

Beat Halo 4 on Legendary and you partially see it.

Completely killed my head canon that Master Chief is Shrek.

When I saw the Chief’s face partially at the legendary end of Halo 4. I thought “They’re showing us a part of his face already? Then that means the end is near.”

I hope they never show his entire face.

I thought they’ve shown blue teams faces except maybe Linda. Frederic-104 | Halo Alpha | Fandom Kelly-087 | Halo Alpha | Fandom

I actually felt like it was a way for them to state, rather definitively, that they weren’t going to treat him as just a self-insert character.

Back during the Bungie days, we got this quote from Frank O’Connor…
“I think the advantage we have with the Chief is that he’s kind of bifurcated; he is a strong, silent type with an actual machismo personality and a get-the-job-done tone of voice. He’s also so quiet and so invisible, literally, that the player gets to pretend they’re the Chief. The player gets to inhabit those shoes - men and women can apply their own personality. In a way, that makes it very easy for the writer; they don’t have to define the Chief’s personality. “ - Frank O’Connor [http://www.ign.com/articles/2007/08/16/pre-gc-2007-halo-3-lead-writer-au-interview?page=2]

And this one from before the release of Halo 4
“It’s funny we don’t then [at the end of Combat Evolved] show his face. But that’s a device to keep the player invested in the character and keep the player from constantly being reminded that they’re not a hero or that they have to be a boy or they have to be a girl, or whatever that is.” - Frank O’Connor [http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-10-08-why-343-isnt-ready-to-show-master-chiefs-face]The avoidance of showing his face and keeping him silent during gameplay was to ensure his status as a self-insert character. Halo 4 broke both those traditions and gave us the strongest in-game portrayal of John yet. His personality became more nuanced and defined as we got to hear him react to Cortana’s distress rather than just assuming what it was based on how we felt about her messing with our HUD. We got to hear him suggest strategies and acknowledge orders. And then, at the end, we got to see his eyes.

So I think showing his face is less about prepping to kill him off, but rather as a solid statement of their dedication to fleshing out his character.

I hope they don’t, I think half of the community (including me) are buying the game just because they want to see his or even her face.

What’s the point of show his face?, we all identify the soldier Master Chief as the faceless bad–Yoink- soldier.

Exactly.

He’s not a faceless soldier. We know that the Chief is a human, and he is a character. He is not the player, and he’s not supposed to be.
Whereas Bungie never defined Chief in game, while fleshing out his character in other media, it deteriorated him.
Showing his face breaks the “you are Chief” image (that was broken before CE was even release with the Fall of Reach) in game, and allows him to grow as a character.

Why shouldn’t they show his face? We’ve seen it dozens of times as a kid and teenager, and had it described as an adult.

I hope they don’t even in their final Halo game,I want it to remain secret.

I don’t think they’ll show… Actually, I wouldn’t mind if they did or didn’t.
As for Blue Team - they already shown Kelly, Linda and Fred in comic, so they will probably show their faces in-game.

However, for me Chief is an idea, a symbol, so I would kind of prefer to never see his face. His armor, his helmet - he’s the Master Chief. A symbol. An ideal. A Legend.
Under his armor, his helmet - he’s a human, John.
