Agreed. I would love to see multiplayer bots implemented for the MCC down the road.
WHY? The bots in Halo Infinite are really really stupid!!!
What makes you think it would be any different in MCC?
âStupidâ bots are better than no bots at all. And you must not be playing on ODST or Spartan difficulty, 'cause those bots will melt you.
You 100% Correct! I play custom games only. Sorry ![]()
I think there was a leak at some point for bots in MCC back in April 2021
I have absolutely no idea if the idea was scrapped or if they plan to add it later
Edit: found an article about it: screenrant.com/halo-mcc-343-industries-bots-tease/
Apparently RejectedShotgun and GreenKnight had found a string and png among the game files
Iirc Farn confirmed to them that it was some sort of q/a testing thing, but said something along the lines of âyou donât want to play against themâ
Dont believe they specified whether it was them being aimbot good, or if it was them being Noble Team driving bad.
Bots in MCC would have made child me so happy lol I really do hope they add it in eventually. There isnât too much left to add or improve on so it would seem like a no brainer for the longevity of the game. Itâd be nice to just kick back and use whatever settings I want and play the game in peace.
Would love to have bots to practice with.
I would love bots they can add depth to custom games. me and my friends basically divide ourselves amongst the teams and add bots for extra pressure. Bots in MCC would have me coming back more often.
With how rampant quitting is bots would be nice.
Nothing is a bigger killjoy than finding over half your enemy team has left the game.
Agreed. In general ALL games should have bots and Halo should have had them from day 1. Bots were THE standard around that period of shooters like Unreal Tournament. Halo CE should have had then them, and all Halo games after should have as well.
I also think MCC needs the option to join matches already in progress. This would massively boost queue times. Also one of those things that simply should always have been there, the moment i played COD4 i instantly thought âHalo 3 NEEDS this!â, and i still stand by this, and the wish has come true
But not for MCC.
Had a Slayer match on Sidewinder 2 years ago where 7 out of 8 people on the enemy team quit. The last guy decided to play hide n seek for the last 12 minutes of the match. Bots would have been great to have in that moment.
Why Bots? Hell In Halo Infinite you can only have 4 bots on each team. Na not in MCC. In Halo Infinite the bots are âREALLY REALLY STUPID!!â

Peace!

Well this thread resurrected again.
Iâm just gonna repeat what I said before: MCC doesnât need bots. Theyâd be a welcome feature sure, but the amount of work it would take to get them running on 6 different game engines is an unreasonable ask, especially when the game doesnât even have campaign Crossplay and the remaining tools out yet.
More important places to focus effort, maybe one day theyâll consider it (heck, ODST is probably gonna be the first game to get that feature, cause the way it works is already kinda there), but the chances are still slim.
Well actually, Iâd argue a time will come when it will need bots. The population for the game is already shaky and if you live outside of the USA, itâs pretty bad. Like I said in my previous post, thereâs very few things left to improve on in MCC so the endeavor and adding them into at least 1 or 2 of the games would be a worthwhile effort.
Every multiplayer-based shooter needs offline bots. And those âsixâ engines are actually just iterations of one engine. Itâs very confusing and frustrating to me how people still have not realized just how important bots are to game preservation.
Those six engines would still require significant work per engine to get bots up and running. They canât just copy and paste the code into each engine. You are vastly understating the complexity bots introduce, especially with how they barely function in Infinite given the technological resources available.
While I understand the offline fun that bots provide I donât agree they are essential to game preservation. For one they werenât in the original title and two the games still support LAN multiplayer so in the event servers are sunset the game can still be played offline. Bots in Infinite canât even be played without an internet connection so they would hardly add to the preservation aspect.
That said I would appreciate bots (I mean who wouldnât), but I understand the massive to do list has a lot more priority items then bots currently.
I dont even want bots soon. I just want 343 to talk about it or mention it. Im a big advocate for bots in MCC mainly for custom games. Which i think would bring people back and revitalize the custom games browser. Ive heard so many people talk about coming back just for bots.
Thats it i know it will be difficult to bring bots to halo MCC and i understand its not an immediate concern but hell cant an old halo fan want Halo to strive.

The MCC team has proven themselves more than capable of updating and adding new content to the Master Chief Collection. While it will invariably be a time-consuming endeavor, the addition of offline bots to all six games in the collection is not impossible.

The System Link feature only applies if there are multiple players, multiple games, and multiple consoles. Youâre thinking only in terms of multiplayer when you should be thinking in terms of singleplayer. All singleplayers have are the Campaign and Firefight, and while they are excellent and have infinite replay value, they only constitute a part of the full Halo experience. Offline bots are the causa sine qua non of multiplayer, because they bridge the gap between singleplayer and multiplayer and offline and online. They are at the core of game preservation. And I can confirm you are wrong about the bots in Halo Infinite; Iâve tested them and they can be played offline.

Like what?
In no particular order Mod Tools, Cross play campaign, steam workshop support, Netcode improvements to HCE and H2C, Custom Games Browser improvements, Linux Support, Matchmaking map refreshes, Forge improvements, Digsite content, and most importantly bug/parity fixes.
Bots would be a significantly down the road feature.
