Master Chief and Commander Sarah Palmer

So now that Cortana is…you know, and we’ve had time to mourn and move past it, who thinks that this new Spartan IV Commander might become the Cheif’s new partner, or maybe more in 343i’s attempt to humanize our once stoic hero?

Wow i did not even think about that. That i think would be a good and interesting story and relationship, but i still do not know enough about Commander Palmer to see if she would be a good pair for Master Chief.

The whole foundation of Halo has been that John has fought alone (except through a few missions) against an overwhelming enemy. Taking that away from the series by adding such an important (probably immortal for gameplay purposes), combat capable character as a partner would ruin the feel of the story.

I would absolutely hate that. Just bring Cortana back.

This reminds me of the direction Resident Evil took.

I didn’t mean in a complete co-op since, basically just tactical data from a safe distance like she does in Spartan Ops with maybe a few bits of active combat here and there.

Is Palmer the -Yoink- that says “I thought you’d be taller” to the chief? If so then hell no! I hope she finds a nice hole, squats down inside, and dies.

Chief and Cortana is how it needs to be, Cortana has always kind of bailed the Chief out of trouble, now its Johns turn to save Cortana.

I think she was saying that in a playful since, she probably thinks he’s just a regular marine that volunteered for the Spartan program like she did.

Nah. Bungie tried the whole partner thing with the Arbiter and ultimately he just ended up feeling like Robin of the Batman universe; a mere sidekick. Sarah has potential to be more than that. Not necessarily a playable character, but one that plays a similar role to how Johnson did.

I feel another Miranda Keyes…

But he’s no longer alone, at least he doesn’t have to be. He’s done so much for the human race…it’s about time the human race returns the favor.

Besides, it’s not like they’d have to have the partner all the time. They could also take the Halo 3 route with how the Arbiter was handled; tough but not immortal and reviving once the battle ended.

I honestly think this is the direction 343 is going in and spartan ops is an attempt to situate the players to the new formats of Palmer being on the comm all the time giving objectives rather than Cortana.

But if Chief needs a hack then he’s -Yoink- out of luck.

My thoughts exactly.

Nice theory. If it weren’t for the fact that Cortana isn’t… You know.

I know there are a ton of people who can’t except that she’s gone and I was one of them. I don’t know what the future holds for the Halo Universe, but if she doesn’t manage to return, I think this is the most likely option for Halo 5,

I wouldn’t mind seeing Chief with some teammates or something.

He has been the one man army for most of the time in the past like 4 games he’s been featured in. It’s just getting kind of old.

He’s still amazing and he’s still Master Chief, but you can only be a lone wolf for so long.

That is one thing I loved about Reach’s campaign. The fact that you were a part of a team of Spartans and had to sit a watch as they all fell one by one. Made for the best dramatic Halo campaign since ODST.

Atleast Laskey is a good replacemeant for Johnson

No not Palmer, John will most likely be reunited with Fred, Kelly, Linda and even Halsey maybe. I do agree that Lasky is a good replacement for Johnson. Palmer is just the Spartan Commander on Infinity and our guide in Spartan Ops, she could never replace Cortana, no one could.

I think Palmer is more into Lasky.

Eh, to be honest I don’t like Palmer all that much. She’s just kind of, there. Of no real relevance outside of multiplayer and spartan ops, at least that’s how I see her.

Cortana isn’t exactly dead.

Wouldn’t surprise me the least if Halo 5 features Chief rescuing Cortana.

By all means Palmer should be featured there, she would make a brilliant character, but she needs her own glory, it’s not going work being in the shadow of Chief.
