Massive Thank You to 343i

Hello Halo fans.

I would just like to say a massive thank you to 343i for Halo:CEA.

You nailed it. Instead of going ‘Oh let’s add this “improvement” and this “addition”’ etc. etc. You just said “Let’s give it a new coat of paint, and keep it EXACTLY the same”. That is something I really really appreciate. If you’d have changed one thing (e.g. the pistol damage to make it “more balanced” you would have murdered the game. You even put the Hunter AI glitch in. Hell, you even put the 3sk pistol in Multiplayer.

Then comes the multiplayer maps. Now I was hoping for Halo:CE multiplayer, but with Halo 4 in full production, I understand why it’s not there.

You made some addition to the maps, but in the Classic maps it’s EXACTLY the same. Unlike Bungie who suck at making remakes, you made it slightly modified, but made it so you can have it EXACTLY the same if you wanted.

And then you added Headlong, which is one of my favourite all time maps.

I have utmost respect for 343i at this point and I am very much looking forward to Halo 4.

Hopefully Halo 4 will be more Halo 2/3 than Reach.

what bungie remakes are you referring to? reflection? asylum? pinnacle? hemorrhage?
and i agree, thank you 343i! and saber interactive! and certain affinity! you all did great! despite what others may say, this was one of the best games I’ve played in awhile, and i love the terminals, and thank you sooooooooo much for the bandana skull!!!

Every remake Bungie has done sucks. Hemorrhage is the worst of them though.

I’m confident 343i knows what they’re doing. They’ve given us no reason to not trust and support them.

i think that the reflection remake was decent, also i liked last resort, or whatever that is called, the map in halo three, with the big turbine

> Hell, you even put the 3sk pistol in Multiplayer.

Yea, no. They put a 3sk pistol in MM, not the 3sk pistol. Reach’s 3sk pistol is like CE’s, but 36% more random. How fun.

> but in the Classic maps it’s EXACTLY the same.

Again, no. Solitary is as good a re-make of Prisoner as Blackout is of Lockout. On the surface they may look the same, but how you play them changes. This doesn’t have much to do with 343 though, the re-makes were done by Certain Affinity. In fact, to my knowledge, the re-mastered campaign was done by Saber Interactive. So WTF 343 did besides overseeing the whole project is beyond me.

Also, I love how they didn’t have time to make CE’s multiplayer online, yet they had time to do the online co-op. They didn’t build an entirely new network engine for CEA either, they used Reach’s existing one. With tweaks, I’m sure, but why the hell they couldn’t do the same for CEA’s multiplayer component? Instead they gave us a TU for Reach, and apparently a TU just isn’t able to change some of the core code. As a result we get a still bloomy, random spread pistol, no plasma stun, we can’t pick up 8 nades, no BRB, no deadly shotgun, powerups are static, the list goes on! Point is, in an anniversary for CE they left out the thing that probably made Halo so big: it’s multiplayer. Some celebration…

Saber did good on the campaign, CA did an alright job on the re-makes, 343 dun-goofed on the decisions.

With most effort and focus towards Halo 4, it’s understandable the decisions they made, however lackluster. I agree with your statements, however what they gave us was satisfactory given the circumstances. Recreating CE’s multiplayer would have been a difficult and long process. Nothing’s perfect.

They haven’t given me a reason to dislike them, and I look forward to seeing what they do with H4!

they didn’t remake the multi-player because, get this, it would split the fan base between reach, and cea, which would be bad for everyone, be it 343i, or the players, you know how small the online pop for reach is? imagine how small it would be if a bunch of people went over to cea, and then the cea matchmaking wouldn’t have that many playing on it either, and with halo 4 just a year away, making another game with matchmaking would mean less people on halo 4 also, so, remaking halo cea’s matchmaking would be bad for everyone, whether you like it or not

36% more random?! Heavens no! How could they? Those basterds! If any other nits need picking, be sure to bring them to our attention at once.

Whiner.

Bungie did alright with their remakes, the only difference between Bungie’s remakes and 343’s remakes is that Bungie was the people who made the remakes and the game. so far most of the map packs for Reach have been done by CI, not 343i, tho they did do it for 343i, it was still CI’s handy work. And the Timberland remake, Ridge line, isn’t “exactly” the same as the original it was 20% smaller, and it doesn’t play the same in classic mode because Vehicles can still be destroyed, and there’s a cliff on one side. In fact, classic mode doesn’t play the same as the original on any of the maps because of slight difference in Reach weapons and add-ons. So saying that every thing is exactly how it was in the original is showing that you’re acting like a brown nosing fanboy.
