So i tried google first and kept getting results about clones for the actual story of flash clones.
But my concern is about multiplayer, for some reason i keep seeing people was identical names with only one difference, having the number (1) at the end, or (2).
one time i even saw (3) of the same name, what’s this all about? my first instinct is to be concerned they are somehow using bots, as all gametags also led to the one person.
Am i correct, are these people actually somehow cheating/botting, or is this some confusing feature, i’ve been unable to find reliable info so far as again, each time only led to the lore of cloning in the story.
… Those are guests. They plug in other controllers onto their Xbox and other people play on them with guest accounts to play in Matchmaking.

The “Join as Xbox Live Guest” feature signs the guest player in as another of the same gamertag.

um? this is the first time i’ve played halo on online multiplayer if that’s what you mean. i’ve played almost all of the games, never finished ODST (Don’t really want to either), started Reach 2-3months ago, didn’t get far, got sidetracked by other things, then started halo 4 and finished 4
It’s just honest confusion 
As i always thought you couldn’t play xboxlive free in any method, so i never knew guest controller was possible :S
The number of guests allowed can change depending upon the playlist. As far as I know, everything currently in matchmaking permits up to four local players.

Are you new to Xbox live? They are guests, not clones. You can sign in 3 guests at a time if you have Multiple controllers.
No one is cheating don’t worry lol, I guess it is understandable if you have never played a Halo title online.
