Sooo I’ve just played a few games ranked 3v3 and still get the impression Mass Air still wipes out any anti air army, regardless how many anti air there are.
Is the upcoming patch going to make Mass Air less likely - like add a tech supply requirement to banshees/hornets or something? Just kinda ruins the fun when the only units being made are air units and anti air and being forced to use leaders with glassing beam to have a chance against them
In short, they mass air is not OP. I’d be more than happy to play with you and your teammates to show that.

But mass air armies have a huge mobility advantage over an anti air army, they can just appear out of nowhere and destroy a base ridiculously fast and without having like 20 wolverines/reavers to stop them, you have no chance against them, especially deci banshees and jerome hornets.
Is an early game rush win the only way to stop mass air players winning?
Oh god muh mobility strikes twice in one day

No it isn’t. Consistent pressure in addition to effective defense does the trick. You prevent them from reaching a critical mass while also limiting their mobility to spesific locations. Like I said I’d be more than happy to show you first hand.
Have found a good tactic against fleets of banshees though only with Shipmaster and Arbiter. With ship, simply teleport half the fleet and use your reavers with camo to finish off the other half. Teleport them to the other half and repeat. Using cleansing beam during this helps too. During teams another tactic that I did once was to let the fleets get entrenched with my team mates before teleporting my army to simply wipe out their bases.
Now as for Arbiter pretty similar to the first. Just freeze the banshees to wipe out half along with plasma bolts for COR. While only limited to two leaders since I only play them, I hope this helps.
I’ve recently been playing a bit of 3s customs with a number of champion 3s players. I agree mass air can be strong if left unchecked but so can anything. 1st thing to do, scout. Once you see someone going air (normally deci, cause dem passives) you start the AA pump, some games all I build for a little while is AA and get up around 40-50 pop of the stuff and immidately go on the hunt. You want to catch air out, sure it has mobility but maps are still fairly confined, you want units providing vision so you can find where the air is and then you cut it off. Get one good engagement on the air and it’s done you drop enough of them that you will easily hold the advantage even when mixing in other units. Once you’ve done that as long as your team has been playing around equal you have a huge advantage. You can engage with 3 armies but the air can’t even come close to you so the enemy can only directly engage you with 2 armies meaning you should win with that advantage. So yes if you let someone get 120 pop of air you’re going to struggle to kill it but 120 pop is a stupid amount of supply and you lost before it got to that point not to the air it self.
