Marty is Important

So, as many of you know, Marty O Donnell was in the past year fired from Bungie. What 343 should do is try to hire him for Halo 6! Marty’s music is something that brought Halo to life, and is important to keep it alive. 343 should realy consider this.

He has his own projects to work on, so I doubt 343 Industries and Microsoft will be able to hire him for the Halo franchise. See his own website for stuff.

Actually Marty got fired from Bungie back in April 2014; well over 1 year ago.

As much as I enjoyed his work in Halo, he has moved on to cofound his own gaming company. We also must move on. I own every Halo album he ever composed, so I take Marty with me pretty much wherever I go; that’s consolation. And I’m happy that he now has the independence to work on what he wants, how he wants. I hope that Highwire Games produces stuff for Xbox in the future.

I think Marty’s music is a very big part of what made Halo feel like Halo. It’s definitely one of main things that’s missing from 343i’s games. I’d say it’s as important as the art style or the classic gameplay. Unfortunately Marty is probably busy with his own things and the Reclaimer Saga seems to have its own defining soundtrack. It would be awkward to go back to Marty right now.

Oh well. Maybe in the next saga or a spin-off.

Marty is far more than just a composer. To get the feel and tone just right , he was involved with several different aspects , so that his music matched the feel and tone of the scene involved. I doubt he has that kind of time to devote to Halo any more. I would love to hear his artistry in Halo again , but for Marty to do it and for him to feel he is doing it justice , it is a larger time investment than I think most of us realize.

^ all of this very much byt especially the highlighted. Golem is looking pretty cool - don’t have a PS or VR, but would be very interested in trying it out. I backed the prequel soundtrack (Echoes of the First Dreamer) on Kickstarter a while back

Didn’t Marry recently get sent a limited edition halo 3 xbox.

that’d be nice but he already joined a newer smaller company that’s working on ps vr games

I can’t wait to see what he creates in the future. His Halo days are likely finished, however, we will always have his timeless work in the Halo universe.

I really would enjoy to see him make a return, but I also feel that we (343) should try to improve upon his music and try to improve upon their own music. Instead of just saying “Fudge it, lets just get the same guy and not try to make our own original and interesting music.”

343 did not want Marty to work on the next halo games, so they didn’t ask for him. I hope that heis doing well because his music was awesome.
