I put on Reach’s OST while walking to work (yes, I had to go into work on Christmas).
Gosh, what an amazing soundtrack. Different from the main games, but absolutely had that Halo feel. The Reach OST really hit the nail on the head with tone: some tracks were grand in scale, reflecting the nature of a planet-wide battle (looking at you, “Tip of the Spear”). Others so somber, it’s almost as if your living the deaths of Noble Team all over again.
Normally I label Halo 3’s OST as my all-time favorite Halo soundtrack. But Reach is just so high quality, especially given that all the tracks were completely original; nothing was a remix of a track from a previous game. It really is hard for it not to be my favorite.
Halo’s music in general is really just something classic and special. Very well done.
