I’m am sure most of you all (on the forum) have heard the Requiem piece by Davidge. Requiem is a taste of the music in Halo 4, and it leaves a bad taste on my tongue. It is not terrible, it is good but, its not what I would expect from Halo. Its too mainstream and predictable. The first time I listened to it I could tell what the next note would be. It is good game music, but not good Halo music.
I know I’m not the only one who feels this way. Alas, Martin O’Donnel has spoiled my music buds.
Yea it’s definitely not Halo, but it is a spectacular piece of work. We have got to move on from what Marty has left us with, Neil has potential to really bring out Halo 4 with its music and I look forward to hearing more. Keep up the good work Neil!
It’s probably a mash up, remember its just a taste don’t jump the dudes -Yoink- yet, doesn’t really bother me anyway, I play with little audible volume and subtitles
I somewhat agree
the music is good and its not like it isnt relatively equal in terms of quality with previous scores its just that the music does not have that traditional halo feel. I hope they bring back some of the classic tracks.
ODST had some of the best music to date in any Halo, Reach was just a watered down version of that. Halo 4 is yet to be judged, but so far I’m not that impressed, then again I won’t like things just for the name (no fanboy), only the quality.
It’s good, but more importantly it’s an ambiance piece…it’s not a main melodic theme. I was listening to some previous tracks from other halo games lately, and not all of them are ear candy goodness…take Ancient Machine from Halo 2…ambiance? Oh, most definitely, but not something you’d pop in, hum along with, and choke back a few tears over how awesome it is…that’s Unforgotten’s role. I’m sure Halo 4’s going to have a few awesome tracks that you can just sit back and take in the Halo-y goodness of them…but Requiem’s not one of those pieces.

that would be the best thing to do but i know im not gonna like his stuff.
While Marty’s music is legendary and “unmatched” Neil’s take on Halo 4 seems very fitting and appropriate for the story so far. Especially the music in the “Halo 4 music sample” and the “Requiem” videos on youtube.
They should have gotten Clint Mansell. Did you see what he did with the Mass Effect 3 soundtrack? OMG it’s so beautiful. I’m not excited for the music in Halo 4 at all because requiem left a bad taste in my mouth. It doesn’t sound like “HALO”.
