Marketing

So I am honestly surprised that we haven’t seen a lot of marketing this late in the year for Halo Infinite. Now I know there was marketing starting to build last year as that was the initial release date, but since it’s been pushed back to holiday of 2021 we haven’t seen or heard much marketing out in the world. Now that’s not to say I haven’t seen any such as the ‘Free Guy’ movie but that really hasn’t been pushed hard. I’ve been expecting to see the usual marketing on drinks, food, the usual. I’m not asking for a ‘Hunt the Truth’ marketing campaign (even though that was interesting) as it didn’t pan out well; however, a generalized marketing video to get everyone hyped for Master Chief again wouldn’t be too hard to pull off.

All that being said I’d expect to see some marketing pop up after the verified release date is public. I just hope that they didn’t lose any marketing agreements from last year because of the delay. But just my two cents and somewhat a surprise to me; I know some will say that it isn’t needed because of what happened with Halo 5, but honestly a game this large should be pushed just as much as COD pushes their game each year.

cod hasnt been pushed at all

That was just an example for a game that is usually advertised big each year of it’s release, with gameplay footage and generally popular music; not my primary point/take away from my post.

CoD and Halo are in a cold war it feels like, with regards to marketing.

You’re right in regards to how if feels; it’s possible that much of the Halo Infinite advertising/marketing campaign was delayed or canceled after the initial delay and they are waiting until the release date is announced. Or maybe I just miss the old days of the Master Chief being on a can/bottle of game fuel and want those back lol.

There won’t be marketing until a release date is out out there.
There’s little point in telling people about your product if you don’t have a date for when they can play it.

It’s a possibility we could get a release date at Xbox’s Gamescom show on Aug 24th although that’s no guarantee that we will.
Heavy marketing generally kicks off about 40 days before a release.
