I think Halo needs to re-establish itself in the gaming world. It used to be the biggest and best FPS. Failures and disappointments of the last few titles from a MP standpoint have failed to reach H3, H2 or H1 level hype. Games like Fortnite, even CoD are now putting out way more consistent content and becoming this generation’s “game” like Halo was for so many.
The idea is this: Showcase people playing on console and PC games like Fortnite, etc. Even call out big streamers like Ninja and show a clip of him building or something very boring with no music. Camera pans out and you see the screen watching these streams is in a big -Yoink- Halo ring / world and it gets rocketed out of nowhere. Warthog rolls up and out steps MC stepping on broken screen big crunch. Camera pans up to MC’s helmet and he says “Daddy’s Home”. Cuts to a release date + Halo Infinite logo and a tagline something like “time for a real game for real gamers”
Ideally a montage of gameplay. Last scene is broken screen showing Fortnite dying/flickering off screen.
You’re welcome 343.
That doesn’t sound appealing at all.
“Daddy’s home”?
“time for a real game for real gamers”?
“Last scene is broken screen showing Fortnite dying/flickering off screen.”
This is satire. Nobody wants Halo marketing to talk about Fortnite. And especially nobody wants to make Halo have marketing that is competing with Daikatana’s in terms of pretention (“John Romero’s about to make you his yoink!” is what I’m referring to). Nor would the material age well at all, it would be rather cringey and irrelevant to view even tomorrow.
What’s also comedic and a common trend on these forums is people asking for 343’s thanks for things I guarantee they’ve already thought of. They hired a marketing team you know. You can present a concept, but don’t pretend like you’re the first to think of it.
Ya, gonna agree with the others here. Like, I get the idea but its marketing should stand on its own merits, not be the guy that shoves their face into everything to get seen. You get noticed when you yourself are great, not when you step on everyone else’s toes. Halo’s marketing should focus on itself and keep the tone of the Discover Hope trailer. Show us what the game really is
Might I also ask why the disparaging of Fortnite? I don’t play it, but it’s popular for a reason and I can’t fault it for being that way. Plenty of games tried branding themselves as Halo-killers and failed. Halo doesn’t need to try to piss on other games.

I would rather the marketing be myself getting decapitated in real life to a terrible mumble-rap cover of ‘Blow Me Away’ than have Ninja or any of his ilk be involved in any way whatsoever.
P.S. -Yoink- Fortnite.

It becomes increasingly popular to bash a game as it gets more popular, but bashing increases even more as the amount of younger players does as well. Same thing with Minecraft; people now view Fortnite as a “kids” game because it has a large younger audience (stimulated by YouTubers and Twitch streamers). It becomes less popular to tell your friends you’re playing the “kid game” instead of bashing it along with them.
Minecraft escaped this bashing by way of nostalgia (kids who played grew up), and at some point Fortnite might as well. I don’t even like Fortnite (still play it on occasion with friends but I can’t think of the last time I’ve actually played to win), but you have to give credit where it’s due.
I get the vibe you’re going for here OP. It’s supposed to be fun and carefree. Like “ditch the zero and get with the hero” type vibes. But it comes off as dated. Speaking of dated, ripping on Fortnite is also super dated. Have you seen COD Warzone? It’s all my friends can talk about, and is probably one of the best Battle Royale experiences I’ve seen to date. And even as a Halo nerd who used to look down at COD and scoff, I’m looking at this game and thinking “damn COD nailed this one”… So perhaps 343 would do better to not tell every other fanbase to go -yoink- themselves when Halo hasn’t been top dog for a decade now…
