Mark VII

I have to say I actually really enjoy the way Mark VII looks, it has mixtures of both Nobel 6’s Mark V(with the helmet and chest plate) and Chief’s Mark V and VI(with the legs and back plate). To me It looks like an armor set that could’ve been in Halo 3 or possibly even Reach.

I believe it combines the best parts of halo 3, halo reach and 343i’s customization.

For me, the concept art for the Mk VII, looks WAY better than the render. I feel like the armor on the render is over simplified, and features to many plain surfaces, and the Techsuit is just as boring.

In the concept, the techsuit had details, intricacies that were very futuristic, as did the armor sections. Something that is a huge miss, and makes the character models looks like plastic action figures, rather than high-tech supersoldiers clad in sophisticated armor.

I’m one of those sold on some of the details present in Halo 5. Some designs were abit too busy, I admit, and many were just plain terrible. But some were absolutely gorgeous and very fitting within the Halo universe.

Looks hella clean imo. Good looking, while remaining Halo like… Considering with Halo Infinite being F2P i fear the bought armor could just be so out there, this at the least looks like a good start.

It looks phenomenal. So happy about Infinite looking like Halo.

The Mark VII looks absolutely amazing to me. I can’t wait to see the customizations.

I agree OP.

I have no proof for this, but I always thought that the Mark V was partially inspired by both the ODST and Recon helmets. Really happy with how the Mark VII looks, and I hope that the Chief’s armor is the model for the Mark VI in multiplayer.

Halo 5 nailed detail, but tbh so did games like Reach. The problem with Halo 5’s armor was all the weird greebling and weird geometry, such as the Nomad helmet’s bulb, or the Fenrir helmet’s weird shape.

HI in general seems to be lacking any sort of Grit, which hell, even Halo 3 had more grittiness on the armor and environments than Halo Infinite’s Gameplay trailer. I genuinely think everything would look great with some little scratches and dirt here and there, like around the player’s boots

Yeah, I totally agree with you. I loved Reach’s asthetic. Colors looked right and the sense of wear and use the armored had looked awesome.

To point out a couple if things, Halo 5 had some pretty lame armor choices, and while the detailing on the techsuit was awesome, the armored sections were definitely lacking presentation. I don’t mind a gentle redux of certain old favorites like the GEN 1 EVA, pulled what I loved about that helmet, and game it a more updated look with added detail. By far, the HUNTER- class armor was my absolute favorite, I think that 343i knocked it out of the park with that one. From the prototype finish on it with the yellow detailing on the helmet, and the glowing energy conduits on the techsuit, it was an awesome look. And maybe all the detail and intricacies was what pushed many people away.
But I feel that 343i is taking a huge step backwards I regards to some of the art direction choices, not all.
