Mark VI Virtual reality helmet

Do we get masterchief vr helmets that fit like dirt bike helmets soon?

Idk if we would ever get an official Halo VR helmet, but it would be a sweet Oculus Quest mod. If only VR headsets weren’t so bulky. On paper, you should be able to fit all the chips in the top and back, then wire it to the visor screen to keep it thin, inside a helmet. I’ve actually seen a few videos try similar things to this.

Here’s a Master Chief AR helmet. Not VR, but the idea is close.

Having a helmet would be sweet if we ever got a Halo VR game. There was a Halo Reach VR mod that got paused, and there is a few Halo mods for Pavlov VR. 343 hired the guy working on Halo VR, so if his 1 year contract ends, hopefully he goes back to working on that Halo VR game, because I’d be all for playing it.

Halo 3 Pavlov Blood Gulch and Custom Games like Speed Halo

I don’t think 343 should ever make a VR Halo after their last 3 games, but Certain Affinity definitely could.

I don’t think we are going to get a VR helmet anytime soon since Microsoft doesn’t want to invest in VR support for the Xbox lineup. The execs probably look at it like the Kinect, and view it as a fad and a waste of time.

Xbox Game Studios will probably try to find avenues for getting games onto VR as soon as the market becomes big enough, since the Oculus Quest 2 proved exactly how much desire there is for consumer VR, but until then? I don’t know if we’ll get cool stuff like this officially.

I’m certain there’s somebody out there who could fit that kind of technology into a helmet (and it would probably be kind of practical now that I’m thinking about it), but as far as I know, haven’t seen anything like a Mark VI VR helmet yet.

If u ever wore a dirt bike helmet before u know what im talking about because there is exactly enough room to fit a vr headset inside it and brand it as an xbox accesory like kinect.

Such a device would make vr more accessible for consumers similar to how xboxes make new videogames accessible and affordable for birthdays and holidays etc
Autocorrect typed holodays which is pretty neat too

Foolish decision honestly. PlayStation’s PSVR has sold over 5 million units, and they’re working on a PSVR2 for PS5, while the Quest 2 has sold over 10 million units and rising. Many people still keep buying Kinects to use as full body tracking cameras for VR. Microsoft is sleeping hard on VR and they’re going to miss the bus. Series S/X only sold 12 million units, and most of those were scalpers.

Mixed Reality wasn’t really impressive, and fell off to all the competitors, while the HoloLens 2 is just waaaayyyyy too expensive. Not paying $5000 for that. Not worth it.

Microsoft has far more than enough money and resources to make a consumer affordable VR competitor. They could even make one that runs Windows 11 standalone and stomps Facebook Meta, even if that means having the Windows 11 VR standalone be a small tower with a base station built in that connects to the headset and tracks you wirelessly, while streaming the PC over airlink. Would it be as good as building your own PC? Of course not. It could still stomp though for a fraction of the cost.

You’d be shocked how tiny they could make a beast gaming “laptop,” and cram it into a cube with a good cooling system. I could probably honestly fit my whole laptop motherboard into a 20% larger device than the Quest 2. I’ve seen some pretty chunky VR headsets. If they took advantage of the back of the headset adjuster, they could put more motherboard in the back as a bonus counterweight.

Microsoft could do it. They’re just sleeping on it. Even if it was a whole Spartan helmet PC standalone headset with surround sound, they could make it, if they wanted to.

Windows 11 VR standalone be a small tower with a base station built in that connects to the headset and tracks you wirelessly, while streaming the PC over airlink.

Pretty much what i was thinking.

U could curl up a gaming laptop motherboard and fit it in the helmet but why? U need to put batteries there instead and anyway u will need a gaming pc or an xbox to connect it to anyway. It would stream the game from the base station to the helmet over in home wifi

We dont want f35 pilot helmets we just want mark vi mjolnir vr helmets so we can forge in vr

Not if the gaming PC is built into the headset? Think of it this way. It doesn’t need to be the best gaming PC, but even the most mediocre gaming PC beats the Android phone snapdragon on Quest 2 that had to be underclocked and STILL overheats, since Oculus didn’t put a vent or a fan. You could have a mediocre Windows 11 overclocked with good cooling and be far better off than the Quest 2 standalone.

Alternatively, Microsoft could introduce VR Game Pass and take advantage of the fact that the Quest 2 runs Android and can already run the Android version of Xbox Game Pass with an Xbox controller connected, then profit off of the fact that Oculus is weak and lacking storage, by creating the only VR streaming service, that could run powerful VR games on any computer or Quest, no matter how weak, as long as you have good Wi-Fi

I am very impressed with the infinideck and the valve index controllers which track your fingers

But
Thats too much right now and i like my xbox one controller
I think a reasonable first step would be to just get it so u can forge in vr using a masterchief mark vi mjolnir vr helmet.
First order of business would be to get the stereoscopic optics and eye tracking conform between peoples noses and the orange visor.

Next wireless video streaming connectivity native to windows/xbox. It follows that with wireless video streaming u just add a semi decent set of audiotechnica headphones and an inexpensive xbox microphone.

Head tracking just uses latest version Kinect improved by adding two infrared LEDs at the top edges of the sun shield. Then u have two really good invisible point of reference to see vector of where head is pointing while sitting on the couch.

Most importantly, ppl liek me will be able to sit at the couch and forge on the tv using the computer. Then i could put my very special mark vi helmet on, and while looking straight ahead at the tv, i see the preexisting forge UI and fully controllable from my xbox one controller. If i turn my head+helmet around and look around the room, i see all around the map i’m forging from the point of the monitor.

Also visible while u have the helmet on is a bright and thin HUD element which is a geodesic square which is just the right thumbstick control. Move the right thumbstick around and u just move the monitor interface around. Click the right thumbstick and it centers the monitor interface to wherever your helmet is pointing.

If neck hurt or helmet needs new batteries then just take helmet off, press off button, and there is the same forge map you were working on still on the tv.

Bonus feature is your friend who says they dont know how to forge maps can wear your special helmet and watch u forge in 360degrees while u are working in a map on the tv.

Currently the closest we have to having a VR Mark VI Helmet is just having the actual Mark VI Helmet that I am wearing in the video below.

Perhaps it is also important that i mention each of my threads/ideas/posts on waypoint etc are merely suggestions for future installations and improvements for forge.

While i am very excited to be able to see halo infinite forge released, by no means do i expect 343 developers to set unrealistic goals for themselves. I sincerely do NOT want my wild imagination to force developers to rush their best work.

It is true dual wielding, scripting improvements, vr forge helmets and all i can imagine would be great to see deployed with infinite forge from the start. I feel like personally i forgot to mention these arent things i expect right away. Like, dont let every new idea i can come up with and throw at the forum wall be a reason to further delay infinite forge release. I am imagining these features will be released with infinite forge season 2, you know?

Hahaha, the video was funny, my guy.

Where are the mark vi vr helmets so i can forge in vr

Also mark vi vr helmets should let you drive lunar rc car rovers if u rent them to race in the artemis race track

The Microsoft/ VR topic is an interesting one.
Some games ; Subnautica, Skyrim and No Mans Sky on the Xbox PC app actually support VR use, including a VR overlay for your XBL friends list/ party etc.

So while they don’t have anything official as of yet, the PC Xbox software is already there.

I play quite a bit of No Mans Sky, alternating my save between my series x and my pc to play the save in VR.
Honestly, its one of the coolest VR games out there.

How do u even make vr games? What about vr game dev kit

Earth to moon has bad lag probably and needs laser arrays

Who will set up the moon race track start and finish lines and flags and boundaries etc

And if the rc cars get stuck somebody has to go outside in a space suit and collect them

bump because we still require Mark vi Mjolnir VR helmets so we can forge in vr
