Mark V [B] appearance discrepancies and future customization wishes

Hello and good day to whomsoever is reading this.

I would like to ask that if possible in a drop pod or seasonal update in the future, if the mark v [b] armor core could have its chest attachments more accurately reflect what they appeared in the old retailed version of reach on the Xbox 360 and later in mcc.

Some examples being the "tac/recon package chest not having the bum pouch and pistol magazines on the back of the spartan’s “battle belt”.

The tac/mat-2519c communicator also missing the its unique bum pouch as seen on Carter’s spartan armor.

The tac/sapper rig missing a couple explosive devices on the side of the belt.

The util/desert patrol missing the backpack Jun had.

There are also a few chest pieces that had on the mark v missing grenades similar to the ones seen on the mark vii.
With the tac/m2497 pouches and tac/liberty rig.

My last request for fixing the appearance of the mark v [b] core is that the mark v [b] helmet itself is missing the helmet “brim” if you’d call it that?

It is however on the spartan’s character model on the initial spawn point for forge mode.
In the beta version of reach it was a standalone helmet attachment, but in retail it was used in conjunction with the ua/type b1 attachment.

If all of these issues could be fixed with the mark v [b]'s appearance, me and a lot of long time fans would be grateful!

Now I know this is getting to be a long read, so I’ll try and make this next section sort and sweet.

For future customization options, it would be great to have multiple helmet accessories at once for more unique looking spartans.

Shoulder armor peices that are similar to the old mark v and vi but updated to look like they were made for the mark vii armor explicitly.

More tactical chest pieces that utilize the spartan’s belt for magazines, pouches, grenades and knives. For the mark v and mark vii armor cores.

More old spartan III armor accessories brought into halo infinite from old concept art.

It hasn’t gone unnoticed by me that there have been armor from spartan III concept art like the ua/type hrp knee pads or halo 5 with the morrrigan helmet.

Also I’d like to give thanks to whomever added armor from extended halo lore in the rakshasa armor core taking much inspiration from the headhunters animation.

Stuff like that very much appreciated.

Thank you for reading!

I want to bounce off and also suggest that chest pieces have an optional attachment slot similar to the helmets so that we could mix and match knives with chest pieces. This could also incorporate the extra pouches as optional pieces for the chests so you could be even more unique (say someone doesn’t want the backpack on the desert rig for example)

Mixing and matching helmet attachments so more than one can be in use at a time.

Despite the extra work I’d also like to be able to equip knives to other shoulder pieces if possible, including when no shoulder is equipped similar to Jun’s spartan model in Halo Reach.

Clonely Bear for crosscore as a chest attachment would be wonderful too…

It’s happy to see reach armors in a morden graphy quality but we still don’t have EOD, Operator, Pilot, Gungnir, Security Military Police, AKIS, Mariner helmet in Infinite, Operator and Pilot is my two favorite helmets in Reach, because of that I can’t restore my Reach Spartan in MK VB core.

i think they need to make a big update to the armor over, the detail is just flat and boring or nonexistent, the coating don’t help either. they look like they’re wearing plastic, not metal.

I would definitely like these changes. I’d also like it if Chest Armor was colored. Certain chest pieces didn’t get colored, and remained black, but several did get colored. I understand if 343 wants to design their new chest pieces to be black only, but Bungie designed these old chest pieces with colors in mind, and they don’t look the same without them.

yeah, we definitely need those back, especially since they are some of the most beloved helmets in the franchise.

Also, AKIS is already in Infinite as part of the Rakshasa core. Personally, it is my favorite helmet in the game so far.

The GRD attachment is in but not the base helmet itself, which looks pretty different.

Raksasha Akis, not the Mark V[b] Akis

Its sort of like how the Scout helmet for the Mark V[b] would be different from the Mark VI version if the Mark VI gets the core treatment at some point

Don’t forget Reach ODST helmet still isn’t in the game.

I pretty much agree with everything that you said. I do have one question though. When you were talking about the Mark V (b) helmet visor/brim attachment, where you meaning that to be added as a separate attachment or added defaultly? Because it was originally just an attachment the default helmet was exactly how it’s depicted in infinite.

I would also like to see the ability to have multiple attachments active on a helmet at the same time so long as they don’t conflict and overlap with each other. Like the ability to put on a visor plate, a forehead/ brim attachment, each earpiece individually and a mouthpiece/chin attachment.

I would also like to see helmets that have yet to come to infinite be added in. I loved the military police helmet back in Reach. That helmet I believe was available through Waypoint which was a 343 thing back in the day. They even brought the helmet back when they did reach armor / helmets for Halo 5. Why is it not in infinite? I would very much like to have my armor back please 343.

I would also like to see them give us a customizable coating option because I’m just tired of being stuck as one solid color. I don’t want to be these dumb callers that they’re wanting to make us pay for but I have no interest in anyway so they’re not going to get my money. I want to be dark gray / black with navy blue details as my secondary. That doesn’t exist so I can’t look the way I want to look. So instead of being happy with how my Spartan looks because it’s my representation of myself as a Spartan I’m constantly annoyed because I don’t feel like that’s actually my guy. I had a similar feeling back in Halo 5 because of the limitations on the armor customization options, but this just brings it to another level. It’s weird how not being able to actually choose my colors feels worse than not being able to pick each piece of my armor, but it does.

You’re trolling right? Because it is. It was in season 1. They included all the ODST pieces.

I think what they meant is that the ODST helmet for Mark V [b] isn’t actually the exact model from Reach, but rather pieced together with elements from Halo 3’s, Halo 3 ODST’s, and Reach’s model. It’s extremely miniscule though and the current model looks fine to me pereonally.

No, it’s litterally a high poly H3 helmet with a few extra details. There’s a pretty big difference between the two.

While I agree they need to add more armor, the second half of your reply has some issues.

I think that the “plastic” look you are referring to is partially baked into Infinite’s art style. Unlike Reach, they have gone for a much more colorful and bright look instead of gray and gritty.

Though subtle, the one in Infinite doesn’t look like Reach’s but rather 3’s. I’m not quite sure what causes it, but I think the Reach one is more compressed and the side vents are smaller.
On your other point of colors, I’m personally fine with the coating system but I think they need to make loads more.

they can be colorful and gritty but the way coatings are makes them look more like toys than spartans. in reach the mk.vb had all these little markings that made it look almost like real super soldier armor, the paint wasn’t as solid like they didn’t have time to totally paint it because they were at war and it looked worn enough like real metal. infinite coating are just look too bright and clean.

i wish i could pick my own colors and add enough detail so it looks like a real suit of armor and not a toy myself but 343 are too busy trying to sell five pieces of armor and and basic color combos i could get virtually free or with little grind in past halo games.

Its not even the version from Halo 3; its the version from ODST

My guess is they picked it because 343 has a terrible track-record with ODST content pre-fireteam raven, and because its generally considered the definitive Bungie era design.

I want customization options for all the weapons… They’re leaving a lot of money on the table just by limiting skins and such to just a few human weapons. Let me make the Mangler look crazy. Let me slap something wild on my Cindershot.

I don’t think so. The reason being is if you go into MCC and look at all three and compare them to the one in Infinite you’ll probably find it to look most like the helmet from H3.

Granted H3 and H3ODST are basically the same, the only major difference being that H3ODST has a sleeker look due to the stripe which makes the top of the helmet look slightly thinner.

I get that it’s really nitpicky, but the other guy came out swinging for some reason, so I decided to explain why. I didn’t intend for it to be a big deal, I was just trying to add to the OP.
