As we all kniw, the 15th anniversary has come and gone and with it we get a new arena mode (love it) and a req pack including a Mark IV Gen 1 armor. As this is the only way I know how to reach out to 343, i need to ask… why did you choose the Mark IV over the Mark V? The mark V Alpha is nearly identical to the original Mark V from the first ever Halo game. I am not saying that you did anything wrong by this decision, I just want to know what made you choose to go with that armor over a remake of the original.
I think part of it is because 343 already made the Premium Arena REQ bundle, which guaranteed the Mark V Alpha set. Also, the body armor is fairly close to the original, but the helmet is off by quite a bit.
I don’t think you’ll get a response from them here. You could try sending ske7ch a message on Twitter. I’ve been able to get some things from him there.
Maybe more players needed that particular set. hype give out a set majority of players may already have.
I think the Alpha was trying to mimic how the MK. V appeared on the original Xbox, which is a big oops. Don’t even get me started on the helmet - it’s too small, too rounded, and in a way, I get a hamburger vibe from it.
The MK. V in CEA / Halo 4 is what we want.

…wat.
You’re kidding, right?
Yeah… You can’t be serious…
…right?
The Mark V Alpha, both helmet and armour, are so horribly inaccurate the the original Mark V, it’s not even funny. The proportions on the whole set are horribly off (I’m looking at you, ugly shoulders), and the details are just wrong. The shield emitters are nowhere near where they should be. The chest is too flat.
Yeah, no. Mark V Alpha is a travesty. That set is not worthy of being given away as a celebration for Halo’s birthday.
Probably because the MK V is an ugly abomination in this game.

I find that if you wear MK IV Helmet with the MK V Alpha Armor, you will look exactly like MC did in CE.

It looks closer than having the Mark V helmet, sure, but I still think the armour is highly inaccurate. Here you can find a much nicer and more accurate version of the Mark V.

To me the body armor looks just fine.

We’ll just have to agree to disagree then!
I’m probably going for an unlikely longshot, but something in my head is telling me about the possibility of a “MK. V Delta”. I don’t know why, but I can’t seem to explain it somehow… :\

I really like that artwork. If only THAT could’ve been the design we got.
I’d be wearing Mark V without question.
It’s even better that it actually fits with Halo 5’s art style in my opinion.

I know, right? It’s the perfect blend of classic, awesome Mark V and Halo 5’s…different… art style. It looks good though, much better than what 343i could give us.
Yes, I understand that it has issues with scaling (primarily in the jaw portion and dual solid sun visor thing… whatever) but the body armor is a shaped very close to the original with shield emitters being displaced and no ammo belt. substituting the helmet for Mark IV makes it almost perfect for shape. I just wonder because Halo started with Mark V and for older halo fans that and the Mark VI are THE Halo armors. I hardly ever get armor in my gold packs so it is hard to get armors like the Mark V and can’t afford to buy a req pack to get it. I used tax return money to get my xbox and Halo 5 in the first place. Being poor suuucks
It might have something to do with the fact that everytime I look at Mark 5(Alpha), I cry.

I think the Mark IV still looks a bit odd on the Mark V Alpha armor.
Maybe if the armor looked a bit more like the art Hotrod192 linked.
I personally really like the look of Mark IV helmet with Intruder armor.
I get that it’s a different type of Mark V, but it still looks better and makes more sense than the Alpha armor. Not as “classic,” but I like it.
Alpha just looks very misshapen and the detail seems inconsistent to me.
It looks more like a child’s costume than a set of armor.
mkV looks like its been squashed, it looks nothing like the original
