it kinda disconnects you from who master chief is when a bunch of marines you save or recruit then just die. they should go into a downed state and then the game should give you 10 seconds to revive them before they die.
it would also make the gameplay more interesting trying to rescue downed marines in different spots every minute or so. I’m not saying marines should never die but it should feel like i have some control.
To make it cool looking, an enemy could be going over to the downed marine to execute him and you have to kill the enemy so the marine has time to gain back his conscious or something.

That would require effort from the devs

That’s how it has always been though.
On Halo 2 the imprisoned marines on High Charity are bound to die on higher difficulties as are the captured marines during the first mission on Halo 3 and the third mission on Halo: Combat Evolved.
Halo 5: Guardians “incapacitated” system made sense because your AI pals were Spartan’s, not regular marines.

They also should be able to actually drive vehicles

how its always been doesnt mean how it should be.
it would still makes sense with marines because you are master chief saving their life. They should die though if you are not close by. It should still be a challenge to keep them alive but still doable even on legendary

I can’t seem to call in a vehicle at a FOB without it splattering a marine

Have you ever even driven a Razorback with 5 marines loaded into it armed with rockets, Sentinels beams, or even the Skewer? Those guys are scary in this game.

And what, you think I’m gonna do that? Nah, they still dead.
Edit: okay tbf, I was playing Reach last night and I do appreciate the opportunities in New Alexandria where you find Brutes grappling civilians and, if you act fast, you can save them. So I get where you’re coming from.

Just give them the Sentinel Beams and mount up in a Razorback to cut through the Banished like Hard Light through butter.

i find that kinda broken. too easy. The marines sitting on the back, if shot at, should fall out of the vehicle and make it more difficult to have a moving vehicle that just melts enemies.
… … … … what game even has that be a thing? Where if you are in a vehicle, you fall out upon getting shot at? You only fall out if you are killed and become a ragdoll.

the marines are practically standing on the back. Getting shot and falling out is not exactly illogical.
what other game has friendly ai that can easily be shot hanging on the back of your vehicle acting like sentry turrets?
Just because it’s logical doesn’t mean it’s fun. When making a video game, you shouldn’t have to compromise the “fun” factor just so your game is more realistic. Otherwise, Halo would be very unfun and maybe impossible to really play.
Yeah, it’s funny and stupid at the same time. Especially when I’ve just given them a rocket launcher, hoping to get them to tag along for the ride

i didnt say it should be done because its logical. The other guy said it shouldnt be done because itss illogical which i pointed out is not the case. i think it should be done to make the game more fun and challenging. it being logical is a bonus
If marines were on the same level as the enemy AI or you were able to revive them the game would be less fun and less challenging due to them being able to clear most if not all enemies. Instead of feeling like a super soldier you would now be getting carried by normal people. Eh. This idea bout being shot and getting kicked out of a vehicle sounds cool for a game like ARMA, but not for Halo’.
Are you crazy have you not seen the way they drive vehicles

They’re glass cannons.
If they give them more defense and the ability to be revived, they should reduce the amount of damage they can do or the accuracy they have.
