Marines (and grunts for the sake of arguement) need increased damage to air after the combat tech upgrade, or need a 3rd tech upgrade to help them
be more viable against air or in the long run. The combat triangle seems all but gone in this game.

I think they are halfway decent until the banshees are level 2 or three. Right when you get combat tech they seem OK against low level air. But I get what you are saying. Late game marines are completely useless except to repair base buildings. The infantry being good against air is a lie late game. But for some reason air utterly dominates vehicles late game, even anti air vehicles.
I think the issue is less about damage and more about mobility. 3 Grunts will kill 1 Banshee (equal cost, but not population) easy. The fact that air can out run infantry is the killer, that’s why they stink at base defense.

Do you know if 3 level three grunts will kill one level three banshee? Also, what about in numbers when there are a ton of banshees shooting at the infantry? Just curious, I feel like an army of marines gets owned by air late game, even without factoring in mobility.

I agree in part, Marines in the late game are cannon fodder and if the triangle is remain intact core infantry needs a small buff. Right now the triangle is a little lop sided

There’s strength in numbers! Also the banshee is the new vampire if you get the anti air upgrade, or reavers cause that’s what they are made for and they do their job well!
There are many ways to combat air, and I’ve seen many Ander’s Sentinel Spammers lose because of it! Or for that matter Brute Jumper Spammers, or any spammer at all because you can counter em all!
Yeah, I find it weird how Infranty is supposed to counter Air, but there are no anti-air units in the barracks/raid camp, and Marines/Grunts are soft counters at best. This leaves you with only Wolverines/Reavers to deal with air, but they’re also countered by air themselves.
Again, grunts arent nearly on par with marines to counter air. Tech 3 Infantry Marines will lose ever time to tech 1 or 2 banshees(should both players know what they are doing and how to properly use his/her units). Thats a broken triangle.
I agree. Both grunts and Marines are only yellow versus air. For the rock-paper-scissors mechanic to work, they need to be more effective. With the second upgrade, bth marines and grunts should be very adept at taking down aircraft.

Agreed. Even if its just a damage increase on the second upgrade to just air units, that would suffice.
A slight damage boost towards air would be perfect. I mean marines have rocket launchers, I’m sure those puppies should lock on… Yeah they are a cheaper unit. But you can’t tell me they should be wiped out by a couple banchees. The population cost alone kinda sucks, might as well
make them a little more viable towards their “hard counter”
I’ve always wanted infantry to be of better value in all games. Yeah, a tank would wreck a Marine assault man… If he could hit him… By the time they lined up a shot, that Marine would have RPG’ed him. That is why tanks need infantry escorts in real life (and infantry use it as cover).
