Part of what I loved so much about Halo 2 is it having such a distinctive personality and energy the Marines helped bring into play. This feat was brought upon easier by including particularly well-known comedians such as David Cross making snarky remarks at their enemies; balancing out the excitement and intensity of the momentary action we are experiencing in that time.
With Halo Infinite, I believe going even further with this philosophy will help return that sheer momentum brought though with those classic moments. In this mindset, I will name a handful of comedians I think would vent this charm that has been dormant from Halo’s gameplay for quite some time.
Jim Jefferies (another Aussie marine) - Bill Burr - Norm Macdonald - Nick Dipaolo - Chris Rock - Bob Saget - Patton Oswalt - Louis C.K.Just to name some at the top of my head. Thoughts? Ideas?
I think some of your suggestions are unrealistic for either financial or social reasons.
I also don’t think big names necessarily translate into either good voice acting or compelling/funny marines. The most notable Marines in Halo (Stacker, Johnson, Chips Dubbo) aren’t voiced by famous comedians. Really, the last time I recognized a famous person in Halo was when they put Conan O’Brien in Halo 4, but I didn’t find that dialogue particularly funny.
Don’t forget Laura Prepon, and Michelle Rodriguez delivering more serious lines.
I think having known actors voice npc’s (Marines, Crewmen, Civilians, etc.) would have the player remember dialogue , and care more about the character the actors play. It’s that sense of familiarity that is brought from a recognized voice.
As for the budget in the development cycle, I have no idea. I do know that up and coming talent and actors that haven’t done much on the screen lately would possibly jump all over it if their agent slides the idea to them.

I don’t see why it’s a financial issue; I’m simply throwing out individual suggestions - not all of them at once. Some of them aren’t even as well-known as they deserve to be, in my opinion.
After all, David Cross is my favourute marine out of them from Halo, and a quick google search of his name already provides 3 other suggestions who on my list.
Social reasons? What’s not to love about these guys regarding the Halo community?
Hiring popular voice actors alone isn’t going to bring back Halo’s identity—look at Halo 5, for example. The writing has to be on par with Bungie’s (well, old Bungie), which means less time trying to win a Hugo Award and more time establishing relatable and distinguished characters.

The recent scandal around Louis C.K. makes him an unlikely candidate for big name jobs like this. No corporation wants someone like that attached to their project; moral implications aside, it would spark major outcry on social media. When allegations came out against Morgan Freeman, he lost a contract to do voice recordings for a Canadian rail system.

I said some from your list. Chris Rock is probably an unlikely candidate because it would cost alot to bring him on board and his style of humor is very particular. 343i could probably afford it, but I don’t really see him adding that much. He would probably be an easter egg cameo at most, and not a common voice (again, thinking back to Conan O’Brien in Halo 4). Also, Chris Rock’s style of humor doesn’t seem like it meshes well with Halo, which is set in a future where humanity has transcended the racial divides that Rock mainly focuses on in his humor. And without his own personal style of humor, what would be the point of having Chris Rock voice anything? Bob Saget gives off a similar impression. Again, big names don’t necessarily mean good work. Look at Peter Dinklage and Destiny 1. It was so badly received, they had Nolan North redo all his lines.
Patton Oswalt probably would be happy to sign on, as he is a known fan of geek culture and I wouldn’t be surprised if he likes Halo. I bet he’d do a good job with his lines.
Oh right, I didn’t think about that little controversy he’s dealing with. Poor guy…
What about the others? Voices like Nick or Bill’s boston accent would work well as marines, I think. Patton would work extremely well, too.
As for “bringing back Halo’s identity”, Capt, I’m simply providing ideas as a steeping stone towards that vision - this topic isn’t on a pedestal among all methods. These guys are fortunately great at improv, so the writer wouldn’t even need to try so much as give them context.

Let’s not derail into that because I passively stated my opinion (directed at him nonetheless), thanks. Shouldn’t your type be the ones to keep people on-topic?
Speaking of which, Infinite seems to have a lot more emphasis on John’s relationship with his marine comrades, as evident with the context of the trailer and this.

We are. In this case, I’m going to keep you on topic by telling you to drop the passive-aggression. This is not a fight you want to pick, and this is not the hill you want your account to die on. People have every right to challenge what you said: you invited snickerdoodle’s criticism.
You opened this line of discussion and made it on-topic by asking “what’s not to like” about CK. This line of discussion borders on being inappropriate for the forums: it’s one of those contentious situations that, to be perfectly frank, we can’t count on every community member to discuss maturely. As such, I’m going to execute moderator discretion and end this line of discussion with an answer. Louis CK’s actions – which he publicly admitted to – constitute false imprisonment and sexual assault. He has also sabotaged the careers of women who were uncomfortable with those actions. He has not made any material amends for those actions, and his sole public “apology” was self-centered and self-aggrandizing. Despite his total and complete lack of contrition, he is now returning to his career and even being defended by people in his industry. He’s not the unfortunate one in this situation.
You referred to an admitted sexual abuser as a “poor guy” because he’s (barely) being held accountable for his actions. You are not going to invoke forum policy in an attempt to evade criticism for that remark.
