How about a marine focused game? Or at least another odst. As a marine the squad mechanics from halo 5 could be used and if anything the main enemies should be grunts, jakals, amd a brute or elite as mini bosses (depends on era its based in).
OR!!! Fight insurectionists as an enemy! That would be soo new and cool (post is edited so i took some ideas). Thats unmarked territory and could re kindle the fire halo has lost. Or even an odst game with the same premise! What’re your opinions?
Hrm, while I’d love to see another game from the ODST’s perspective, I think the New Mombasa setting has been used to it’s fullest potential by now.
Perhaps a game set during the 2540s? There’s lots of potential to expand on already existing conflicts that we haven’t seen in much detail, and it’d give room for the writers to play around rather than being restricted to a set timeline of events.
I think the Marine perspective, while valuable, isn’t one that suits gameplay. Marines, still use most weapons, so it isn’t different enough to justify an entirely new system, but at the same time, Marines have very low time-to-kill, and would basically play like ODSTs with lower health and no access to specialized weapons; In other words, I don’t think it’d be as good in execution as it is in people’s heads.
Every game I go all out and buy ODST guys there just amazing I actually won a game with just ODST’s
Man that would be amazing like they could make a lot of money and the games will still continue after chief like that’s what needs too be done and maybe idk play as covenant as well???
well, a Halo game from the perspective of a marine has been in my mind every once in a while since 2001. And ill say that yes, it would be a potentially good idea if its executed properly.
and another ODST game could be equally good. Again, if executed properly.
I guess a proper ODST one seems more likely to be released since it can be more stealth/tactical based with some action parts (where SPARTAN ones are usually more action based) which could bring some changes to the pace of the game like last time.
some reasons (not all included in this post obviously, for these are far too big topics to fit in a reasonably sized post) that I think a game that is presented from the perspective of a Marine(s) is that even if it could be more action and battlefield oriented which could be perhaps a bit more familiar it could become a story that is more about survival and losses which for some reason the modern direction seems to avoid. Secondly it seems that good marine lines for the marines have been lost from new Halo games over half a decade and the lack of it could cause the feeling that something is missing and the lack of good Marine lines does make the gameplay more boring. If a game would be made where the Marines are starring it then the Marines that actually have personality should return with or before that.

> How about a marine focused game? The halo 5 mechanics could totally work for this! Just a squad in new mombasa during halo 2 and odst. Running into some older characters maybe (Buck, sgt.johnson, CHIEF!)? Even another odst game. Many people want to see the halo universe through these lower characters eyes! Id lovw to see this. Whats your opinion?
Just a question , but other than Clamber or A.D.S. , what mechanic in Halo 5 fits so well with O.D.S.T.s’? Super Hero slide , Ground pound , Thrust dodge , Shoulder Charge…none of these really fit the idea behind an O.D.S.T. .
Just my opinion.

I’m going to agree. The Halo 5 movement system doesn’t really work for Marines or ODSTs, since they don’t have any of the fancy armor components that allow them to pull stunts like that. It just wouldn’t make sense.
Halo 5’s mechanics don’t really work for marines or odsts. With that being said, I would like to see another game focused around the marines and odsts. Maybe do a battlefield 1 style of story, where you play as different marines and learn their story during the human covenant war, or from more recent events.

Oh no sorry i meant the squad based gameplay. Since you are a marine and can die quickly you get a squad much like battlefield with a medic and stuff

Yeah i meant the squad mechanics since marines die from a brutes -Yoink- slap. I could see how the bf1 style could work but i also think that you should play in winning battles. You should play in huge battles to show how powerful the covenant was and how much of a threat they were. Like have Assault carriers pop up and other huge covenant ships slowly show up in the sky. Or have you put up against scarabs and stuff that as a marine you cant fight and have spartans show up to show how reliant we are on spartans and how they change the tide of battle. This could show how important spartans are. And when in halo 3 when the marines conversed saying Marine 1:“Holy -Yoink-… A spartan.” Marine 2:“WHAT!!! You better not be Yoinking! me” Marine 3:" No! He’s not! We’re saved!!!" this would really show how happy they are when you see what the marines see a spartan do and how skilled they are.

OOOOOOH K , I see what your saying . I get that. Agreed , the squad mechanics would work well in ann O.D.S.T. or marine centric game. Would allow for more characters on screen any way which would lend to the co-op element (that any marine centric game would have to be , lol , make the hardest difficulty heroic ,no marine could survive legendary [legendary and mythic could be done with skulls , there are those people out there| )
.
Partially on the topic and not. I would love to see a spinoff Halo game based on the novel Contact Harvest or an Insurrection based game (New Blood or some other events) where it is marine style infantry gameplay against humans or covenant. If it’s against Covenant it is an opportunity to use the old formula for combat and also use more realistic mechanics to heighten the foreign and dominating force of the Covenant that was crushing Humanity early in the war. By now, it is too late to revert back to the old style gameplay in the mainstream Halo games (despite the squad mechanics, spartan abilities and revive system being garbage) but can still be done for spinoffs as a way to expand into the lore further and appeal to some campaign players or halo fans in general who want a repeat of the Bungie campaigns.

Ah. I’d love to see an improved version of the squad command mechanics in an ODST- or Marine-focused game.

you might want to add that to your original post
I did a couple of posts on this:

Vote and discuss!
I always liked the idea of a prequel game to take place somewhere between Halo Wars and Halo Reach, where rather than following a specific character the story follows a letter from a soldier to their parents, the soldier being the person you play as in the first mission. At the end of the first mission that soldier dies, and another soldier promises to carry the letter to their parents. But then that soldier dies, and yet another soldier takes up the mantle of carrying the letter. And so on. The letter trades hands many times, and no character is ever played in more than one mission. You play in some missions as marines, in others you play as ODST’s, in others you play as pilots. At the very end of the game the last carrier of the letter dies on Earth, during the last battle in New Mombasa, and the letter is left in the rubble. The last cut-scene focuses on the letter, but in the background you see Chief run past, as he would in Halo 2 in the level Outskirts. And completely ignore the piece of paper on the ground. Cut to black, roll credits.
But if you finish the game on Legendary, you see a little girl come and pick up the letter in the aftermath of the battle, and run off to show her parents.
