Marine Armor Set?

What are your guys thoughts on if 343 added a marine armor set to halo 5. Would it be too confusing in Warzone while standing beside an AI marine? Would it even make any sense at all?

Marine armor is completely different from MJOLNIR. It couldn’t even support a thruster pack, let alone shields.

Reach had a type of Marines based armour, it was actually pretty cool.

Halo Reach’s Military Police helmet is an example of standard Marine (or was it Army…?) hardware being upgraded for Spartan use. It’s not impossible to believe that they’d make a full set for some reason.

Reach already canonically made no sense, so I’m not surprised.

But why would they upgrade it to the point of MJOLNIR GEN2? Like, that just seems illogical. Also aesthetically ugly.
I mean look at these Marines…

Ugly is a matter of personal taste, and there would probably be some lore explanation for it. There’s already 223 sets of armour, many of which seem ridiculous or are just unpopular, Marine armour doesn’t seem so out of place there.

Also, aren’t those Marines from that backwater colony and not a part of the UNSC? UNSC Marines would have far better equipment.

I know it doesnt make sense but does a videogames multiplayer customization need to make sense, I mean, in Reach they had a helmet with a skull in it (not Emile’s)

Marine armor canonically seems pointless.

Canon, friend.

Or there could be a mode where you play as marines, It would kind of be like original Halo, no sprint, no thruster, it would work

Why wouldn’t Marines be able to sprint?

Canon? Jorge’s armour was a one-off set made by him, with additions that were not sanctioned by the UNSC (Halsey disapproves of what he has done to his armour). Emile’s helmet was carved by him for him. But you can get those in Halo 5. That makes no sense. But a set of Marine armour, an armour set that with ten seconds of thought can exist in canon is too much? Here’s two lore explanations for you: A. It’s cheaper to upgrade Marine kit in a pinch rather than build a full MJOLNIR suit and B. Spartans in military police roles would prefer to wear an armour set that is widely recognised in the UNSC both because of the familiarity with the firmware and because it helps with the Spartan’s public image.

Ugh you are so right on that design. 343 really dropped the ball on the marines, the designs they have just look generic, and too… Modern. I mean, yes, M.O.L.L.E. Vests are practical and realistic, but they don’t fit in halo’s futuristic setting, not when things like the marine BDU have been established since halo 1.

like this:

It’s 550 years in the future, why is he still wearing a MOLLE vest?

Yes if its the reach armor and not the new Marine armor.

Warrior, yo.

Armors in Halo 5 that are homages to older characters make total sense, as Warzone and Arena are simulations, Spartans should be able to pick whatever variant they want to use during the simulation, and that include iconic armors, like Chiefs, Emiles, Jeorges, etc… Now, why would you not use the WARRIOR-Class MJOLNIR set? It would be just as effective as upgrading a Marines suit, if not more, and expense or time is not a factor as the suit is already in mass production. Also, Spartans in military police and security roles use Enforcer armor.

I liked the Halo 3 marine armor the best.

Halo 3 Marines have -Yoink!- armor though.

Those aren’t even Marines. They’re just miners with guns, though that does raise the question: What the hell does 343 think miners will look like in 500 years?

Mostly because of the camouflage patterns, but yeah, it’s pretty good looking.
