This. Squad Slayer was a bastion for many old-school Halo Players who want a clean slayer experience. No armor-lock, no double-pummel, no barely-playable community maps (especially since I play split-screen 99% of the time, which is almost impossible on community maps). I understand if there NEEDS to be a vanilla playlist, fine, just leave squad slayer alone, please 343.

Worst update…yet…343 you just failed with this…

I wonder why they remove 2 playlists and make 1. However 3 Core slayer playlists is too much.

Stop listening to bad players 343. If you remove bleed through then you have to remove sprint. How do you justify some idiot who can’t shoot being able to sprint at me while being shot and melee me and put us on equal footing.
Yes, bleed through had it’s own problems, but at least if some BK ran right at me to beat me down I could shoot him and win the battle. Between the removal of bleed through, the removal of squad slayer, and all the updates helping such great play list like grift-ball and living dead(sarcasm) you have officially giving me no hope for Halo 4.

Having squad slayer removed is a huge disappointment. That was by far my favorite playlist and now that it is going away I really don’t know if I can stand playing team slayer day in and out.

I am happy to see I still get my vanilla team slayer!!! I wish 343 let us vote on more of the playlists before changing them because I prefer no TU and felt like I didnt get a say. I fell in love with the Halo Reach Bungie made not whatever 343 and all the whiney little children are trying to make it.

I am happy to see bleed through removed though because it was my biggest complaint of the TU. Because of the TU I only play Team Slayer, DLC (thanks for bringing it back and getting rid of require anniversary), and Invasion. I would be enthralled to see more invasion maps but would be very upset to see the TU implemented in that play list. please don’t change it!!

As far as updating action sack, grifball, living dead, or any of the other playlists filled with annoying 10 year olds too young to be playing a mature game, I could care less about updates. All I hear from other people is they would like arena updated and a ranked mlg play list so Im all for that.

I would like to see cliffhanger brought back and get rid of some of the trashy community maps in rotation.

I’m going to be perfectly honest, I’m a “special” child, and even I have enough cognitive ability to think that this update is absolutely baffling. Not only are you alienating the population (pro players) that made your game what it is today; a popular FPS loved by millions, you’re selling out to the super casual crowd just for that extra cash. I will break this down step by step as to why this is a bad idea.

>Removing Anniv. Squad
One of the most competitive playlists outside of MLG and Arena, and you’re going to remove it. Almost nobody likes the Anniversary gametypes because they don’t really seem to work with Reach Mechanics. It feels like you’re moving a giant blob, more so than Vanilla Reach. It just doesn’t feel right compared to the game it’s supposed to be referencing, an FPS that revolutionized console gaming. (Get off of me, PC master race.)

>Removing Squad
This was one of the only playlists that was just Slayer that didn’t have Armor Lock that didn’t require super tryhard pants all of the time. Now we have “Super” Slayer, which has Armor Lock in it. You could have solved everything by just adding Super Slayer, and doing nothing else. Everyone would have been happy.

>Removing Bleedthrough
Double melees, slower kill times, and anger, oh my!

>Adding Super Slayer
Adding this playlist by itself would have been fine. Removing other playlists that many people enjoy on a daily basis is not.

>Even bothering with Infection, Grifball, and Action Sack.
The population for these playlists, excluding Living Dead, is pretty bad, with Grifball just barely squeaking past 2000 players during peak hours, and 1000+ players for Action Sack only really seems to happen during peak weekend hours. I can understand Living Dead, because it’s a thriving playlist, but until you remove both Sword Block and maps like Boardwalk, nothing will change.

>Removing Evade.
I like rolling around at the speed of sound, but letting only Elites have it is awful. I know their weapons are absolute pants, but they shouldn’t get an easier way to GOTTA GO FAST, they just need some weapon buffs. Not all of us are Technobrats.

>No Arena/MLG update.
This should be self explanatory. Without a truly competitive playlist, very decent players will leak out into other playlists and roflstomp little kids, thus decreasing the population even more.

>Team Obj. 5v5
If 2 teams are equally matched, that 5th player will make it so much more difficult to actually score a flag cap or a bomb arm. With Squad as hectic as it was, having 10 people fight over a bomb is just ridiculous, and the maximum Ruffgonja will be too unbearable.

>BTB Heavies
Great, now I can grind my Downshift commendation on randoms even easier.

> So why would they want Vanilla TS to become TU? Because many TU players like to screw over Vanilla fans even though they have nearly every other core gameplay playlist. So please don’t throw out the “TU players are innocent card”.

Who says that I was playing that card? All I was doing was making a post more clear. Maybe you should stop being so assuming…

And it doesn’t really matter who loves the other to be screwed over more. The only real solution is to leave everything as is and to just add to it. Or better yet, why not have all of the original settings come back for each playlist and then just have TU versions as well?

Why remove Squad Slayer? Why remove bleedthrough? Why remove evade?

The above in no way is attacking people or 343.

Quit catering to casuals by making pointless updates. Did you see all. of the casual random gameplay mechanics that were on Reach before you took control? You tried so hard to get rid of that, and guess what? You failed with this update.

I don’t care about grifball. I don’t care about living dead. You might as well do one last update to Reach and focus on the MM llaylists for Halo 4 so that doesn’t become a failure, but you wont listen so I’m just wasting my time.

I completely agree with you here. 5v5 Slayer was also a completely niche gametype. It was like the Squad Battle playlist in Halo 3. It offered you a gametype between 4v4 and 8v8 which was a lot of fun. As far as I know, it had an ok population, so that wouldn’t have been the reason it was removed. It just baffles me as it offered completely different gameplay from default and led to many peoples enjoyment.

> >Removing Bleedthrough
> Double melees, slower kill times, and anger, oh my!

However here, I understand why they removed it. Although, I feel if they removed the weapon bleedthrough and kept the melee bleedthrough, both parties would have been happy.

> >Adding Super Slayer
> Adding this playlist by itself would have been fine. Removing other playlists that many people enjoy on a daily basis is not.

Completely agree. Although if they had added it, they probably needed to remove a playlist, as from what I remember there was a vast amount of playlists. Although, they should have removed the playlist with the lowest population.

> >Even bothering with Infection, Grifball, and Action Sack.

They updated Grifball as it is run by another community, sort of like MLG. Infection is also understandable as it is one of the more played playlists. Action Sack completely baffles me as to why it was updated.

> >No Arena/MLG update.

I definitely was surprised by this. Why has there not been an Arena update? So many things have been suggested in these forums, yet it always gets pushed aside. I understand it has a low population, but that would definitely change if they updated certain aspects, for example REMOVING jetpack.

MLG makes sense as to why they didn’t update it. The v7 settings came out I believe 2 days ago. Wait for the next update.

I agree, 5v5 objective just does not work, unless it is on large maps. The gametypes were already hard enough to score and cap on as the maps felt cluttered and full. Adding in an extra person is going to completely lopside that and make the gameplay more hectic and frustrating.

> >BTB Heavies
> Great, now I can grind my Downshift commendation on randoms even easier.

I’m glad they added this. Default BTB in Reach was pretty much always the same. Heavies will add a different aspect to gameplay and will probably be enjoyable to say the least.

This is a horrific update. Why would you take out Squad Slayer? Or take away Bleed Through? What in the world was 343 thinking with this update?

ugh why remove bleedthrough? Fix it don’t remove it.
squad slayer > super slayer. just name wise to start

March Playlist Update: One small step for Halo Reach, one giant leap backwards to day 1.

The removal of squad slayer was a huge mistake. When I think of competitive playlists I think of arena, MLG, and squad slayer. MLG uses completely different settings and maps and arena is terrible with no population and cheaters. The only other playlist where teams were guaranteed to match other teams was squad slayer. The only slayer playlist that doesn’t have armor lock was squad slayer.

Super slayer is not a good enough replacement for squad slayer. For one, it doesn’t match teams against teams, so every game is going to be a quit fest like every other playlist. Also “super duper slayer” has armor lock. Enough said on that topic. And finally, 5 of the 6 maps we will be able to choose from during the 2 rounds of voting will be terrible communitymaps. No one wants to play precipice.

Bleedthrough needs to be put back in TU for melees only. Melee bleedthrough has always been in halo and you had it right adding it in. Bleedthrough for precision weapons, except the sniper, should not be added back. You shouldn’t die from one shot of the DMR while you have any amount of shields.

Evade was taken out. I personally won’t miss it too much because I don’t like any armor abilities period. But I don’tseewhyit needed to be taken out while camo, armor lock, and jetpack remain in. Mind is blown.

Team objective is now 5v5 for some reason. I have no idea why they felt they should change this. Maybe they pulled it out of a hat. Oh well.

Thank god grifball and living dead were updated though.

I hope this isn’t a sign of what’stocome with this franchise. These are only my opinions though. What are yours?

To be fairly blunt.

Don’t remove bleed through! D:

Now you know why Bungie just let it be.
