Yes, I know what you’re thinking, and I’m not talking about the New Reclaimer Symbol, I’m talking about the Older, Marathon/Reclaimer Symbol.
You see. I decided to play some Spartan Ops tonight (Episode 6, “Hammer” Mission, to be precise). In the last segment of the Mission, you need to activate three panels in order to deploy a Map/Cartographer. Now, check this Album. http://imgur.com/a/gaBsq
The first and Second pictures are from “The Challenge”, of Episode 1. That’s a Forerunner Switch. You get to activate/deactivate plenty of these. Notice the design, now, check the third one. It’s the same design, except that this variant is Blue. All is well so far. In “Hammer”'s last segment of the Mission, those three Switches, which should have the same design, now have (Scroll down in the album) That. See? That’s a Marathon Symbol, no doubt at all. Now, during the Bungie-343i Transition, the former kept the Copyrights for things like the Marathon logo, since it originally wasn’t part of Halo, but of their previous game. So how, or why, is that Symbol back here? That’s what I’ll try to find out, and I’ll keep you informed. I got a starting point; All I gotta do is ask the right people, so… any opinions on this?
I heard some people mention this weeks ago, but it is still a pretty cool reference. Maybe 343i got permission for just ONE time?
You did? Any idea where? I’d really like to see what other people have said/heard… this is news to me, but I had my theories, so I wasn’t expecting this to be old, assuming that it’s the same thing.
Though it is the marathon symbol, it’s also integral to halo. Being that bungie doesn’t own it, maybe it’s just a weird partnered ownership of the icon. Or hell maybe bungie got shafted and can’t use it anymore. or maybe it’s different enough that it doesn’t count.
I don’t imagine bungie would care to be honest, they’ve certainly moved on to grander (if completely untested) pastures.
And I know that phrase is technically wrong, correcting it will just make you look like a d-nozzle.
(BAM, censor THAT 343.)
edit: oh, wait, I see now, it’s completely the same. huh…
Most likely it’s just pure coincidence.

The Marathon symbols are copyrighted and belong to Bungie, I don’t know what kind of deal they made with 343, but that’s about it.
Maybe Bungie’s being cool and like, "Eh. We got a friggin’ tiger over here, nice pipes. Admirable fireplace and the most excellent recliners. And 343 has made some lights look devilishly close to the Marathon symbol? Hah, children at play.
They shall have their fun, as we have had. For now, it is our time for grander pastures."
Well lately there’s been some “Slight advance”. If you’re interested, here’s the link to the active thread. http://www.bungie.net/en-us/Forum/Post?id=60107069
If its in halo, 343i/Microsoft owns it.
Perhaps a few little exceptions that I can’t think of right now. Halo 1-reach stuff and trans media, 343i/Microsoft owns.
“If it’s in Halo, Microsoft owns it” Wrong. If that were true I wouldn’t have made this thread, don’t you think?
The game Path to Exile has a reference of Skeletons using green arrows, it’s a direct cameo of the Hero, “Forsaken Archer” from Heroes of Newerth. It’s done a lot in games as a homage to other games that developers are fans of/have worked on.
It was actually episode 9 that the marathon symbol was in.
