halo 5. Why I like the new feel and just hope one day 343i wakes up and makes a halo game work well with sprint. I’m finding the overall multiplayer boring. Variety is one thing missing from halo 5s maps. HCE, H2 and H3 had variety because the maps where filled with more then one or two power weapons, even halo 4 had variety from the use of ordinates. Halo 5 is boring because you are stuck with spawn weapons nearly the whole darn time. 343i fill your map with weapons, keep the respawn timers on because I don’t want to play halo 2 again were you could just hold the weapon all game and it would never reappear on the map and stop spoon feeding players the information as to when and where the weapons are available. If people cannot work out where weapons are placed on the map after playing a game or two then that’s just to bad.

Halo 5 potential but boring. You are just playing halo 4 minus load outs and ordinates at the moment. More weapon variety = faster paced game.

I think you are forgetting one very important factor. This is the beta. We haven’t even seen a single covenant weapon gun yet (we’ve seen sword/bane but no gun). So who’s to say right now that the power weapons on the maps, are going to be the only power weapons come release? For instance, the midship remake (truth I believe) only has the prophets bane up top…I would be shocked, come release, there won’t be a power weapon directly below it (or somewhere else), like a shotgun or rocket or whatever.

but as it stands right now, yes I completely agree with you.

i would also like to make my opinion on the maps we have been shown so far, I was actually going to create my thread about it but I see no reason to at this point.

Pegasus: the single worst map I have ever played in any halo game ever. It’s a couple hallways, some stairs, and little platforms here and there, and giant blank white walls. I absolutely hate the layout of it. This map looks like it was created by a five year old (honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if this map was created by one of the children of the leaders of 343). It’s that terrible to me. The sniper? stupidest location. The rocket is in a fine spot I guess, but the layout is disturbingly boring.

Truth: A remake of midship. If you like midship, you like truth. I guess I kind of liked midship. Wasn’t ever a favorite of mine but I’ll take it for the nostalgia aspect.

Regret: Extremely similar to truth/midship but with some different walkways and the lower level is designed quite differently. Personally, this is a favorite map of mine. I love it. It’s like a midship remake, but outside and overall just great.

Empire/Eden: I put these two maps in the same thing because they both are the same to me. The first one (I believe empire but correct me if I’m wrong) we saw is my second least favorite map, only better than Pegasus and slightly worse than Eden. It’s simply too CQC. It’s all corners and hallways and no open space. Open areas is what halo map design is all about. Eden is only slightly better as in it has the sniper outdoor area. I cannot stand how close quarters it is. I love maps like blood gulch, hang em high, lockout… All the maps that have some open areas, with a little CQC. But pure tiny hallways and rooms is terrible to me and makes the game feel more like a twitch shooter than halo.

anyways just thought I’d throw that out there and wondering how everyone else feels about it.

I hope this it’s just a beta rings true. There will be nothing making me want to constantly play this multiplayer if I don’t get to use more then a Br all the time.

I agree with the map design flaws. This goes to 343i love of believing sprint makes the game faster. When all it does is make maps with long runways to accomodate it. I find all halo 5 maps lacking soul. Halo is fast paced due to the way weapons are placed on the map. Sprint in halo needs to work like CS. It only gets you to places slightly faster. It is not needed to run around the whole map. This is why we will never get great maps like the original halos had.

Maps are designed to use all these new features to often. Do I wish I had a thruster in halo yes but I’d only use it on occasions if playing on old maps, same as sprint if it was made to travel the map slightly faster. Abilities of the spartan should only be tools to use at the right occasion not a focus point for building the whole multiplayer game around because that leaves you with maps like halo 5s and 4s. No replay value.
