In past Halo Games, the maps have had great detail. They also had something that changed the gameplay and made players have to change their playstyle. I’m talking about mechanisms. In Halo 2’s maps, there were things like extending bridges, and buttons that revealed teleporters. I want things like this to return.
I’m just saying as an example, Landfall. It looks like a warehouse/loading bay. So The detail on the map is gold. But as an added feature, there could be a crane control that picked up some crates scattered across certain area and moved them. Or A button that opened a garage door that reveals an entrance to another play space. I hope you get the idea.
I absolutely agree. Things like this helped keep the maps entertaining and engaging. They added a different element of control to the battlefield (especially during objective gametypes); and sparked some “life” or function in the map itself. I never understood why they were slowly done away with (they had a very heavy influence in Halo 2, followed by some light touches in Halo 3, and then completely done away with in Reach). I would love to see these things brought back!
Halo could definitely use more interactivity. For those that haven’t played Halo 2 watch this poor quality video. It will show exactly what OP is talking about.
In my experience, 343 Industries doesn’t quite understand interaction and detail. They want you to play in their environments, but not with their environments. Bungie was always very good at doing both.
Yes i miss the interaction with the maps previously seen in past Halo games.Hopefully 343 is not doing it due to FPS problems with the 360’s hardware.Although with the 720 they will not have that excuse, well many excuses for that matter. That and they now have crap load of data and feedback to use.
