Maps lack of variety

I don’t understand why 343 isn’t reusing Halo 5 campaign environments in multiplayer Arena and instead is only making poor UNSC maps which all look the same with pipelines, empty rooms, useless bridges and white blocks everywhere (Fathom, The Rig, Plaza, Empire, Eden, Overgrowth, new map this month)…

The campaign has beautiful environments and the most important : it has variety (UNSC, Covenant, Forerunner, outdoors…)

  • Kamtchaka (forerruner outpost, snow)
  • Argent Moon (abandonned ONI space station, dark corridors)
  • Genesis (forerunner world, alien jungle)
  • Sangheilios (Covenant world, alien ruins)
  • Sunaion (Covenant city on the sea, classic Covenant purple style)

I really hope 343 will stop releasing UNSC maps for now… They have cool art pallets (Sangheilios is probably the best one in the entire Halo series), they should use it, I think everyone would be happy

The maps don’t only lack variety in visuals, but also in format. Too many tight corridor, small, linear maps. The pace of the game is too fast for such small maps.

343 was came under heaps of criticism for doing pretty much exactly that in Halo 4.

They can’t win, really.

As for the environments in the Halo 5 campaign… I imagine the game engine would struggle to maintain that quality in an online match? At least at 60fps.

But yes, I agree, that we need some maps based on those areas… especially Sangheilios.
