Maps in Halo 4

What kind of maps would you like in Halo 4? And I mean the surroundings of the map and the skyboxes. I would personally like a map on Sanghellios, I would love to see the planet on a game.

I’m not very knowledgeable in Halo lore, so I can’t give specifics, but I’d really like it if H4’s maps were just more mysterious in nature. I want to be fighting on epic set pieces, not some grey backstreets in an abandoned city. I’ve liked what 343 have come out with so far (Condemned, Highlands and Unearthed), theme wise, anyway.

i wanna see ASYMMETRICAL outdoor maps (and indoor too i spose’). perfectly symmetrical maps are BORING IMO. i like the added depth in asymmetrical maps that are done well with weapon spawns, and respawn points.

ideally theres more than 1 spot to hold down, but theres usually that one optimal spot to hold down. they have to make sure theres plenty of entrances to that one spot so a good team cant just set up in there and instantly win the game because of that. rockets spawning outside the ‘powerful spot’ is always a good choice.

I would want something that feels like Guardian. With the Rainforest feel, and the birds in the background.

I want the return of a city map like Headlong or Turf. I’d also love to see a Highlands remake in H4. This map is amazing yet it doesn’t get played with enough people in BTB. If it was a disc map that would give it a chance. I’d also like to see room based maps make a return, such as Rat Race or Chill Out.

The game needs at least some symmetric maps. They only look boring when made incorrectly, at least in my opinion. I still can’t deny that few of the best maps in Halo are asymmetric. Asymmetric maps have a high chance of being bad as you can never get perfect balance when every part is shaped differently. Halo Reach is a very good example of what can happen with asymmetric maps. But if made perfect, they offer good gameplay for both sides as teams are required to use different tactics.

I have never seen a symmetric map that is boring in my opinion. Symmetry also brings interesting aspects to gameplay as you can predict enemy movement by observing your teammates. Symmetry also offers immediate balance as no team has advantage over another.

I thought most people liked symmetrical maps because it was positive to be fair for both teams.

I hope to see some solid symmetrical maps, Small ones and Big ones. The fiction and feel of the map is important also, however a few asym maps would be great too becaus I love me some 1 sided objective!

I don’t care what kind of maps are in Halo 4, as long as they’re not integrated with the campaign like in Reach. Don’t think Reach is a bad game, but I honestly don’t like this feature. Campaign and multiplayer are different, so I don’t think they should be thrown in together.

I want solid maps built only for competitive play such as The Pit, Guardian, Narrows, Beaver Creek, Sanchuary, Zealot. As well as a few big maps for noobs. This is exactly what Halo 4 needs. Please make it happen 343

Oh yeah I hated that too, it just didn’t feel or look right and it took away from the campaign and everything.
I don’t mind like what they did in Halo 3 with the flood gate how it looked like Foundary but Foundary wasn’t in it.

I would really like to see some more remakes of maps in Halo 4 I would love to see The Pit again and my all time favorite map relic again. Definately some more remakes and have the map packs have five maps just copy COD and put 4 new maps and 1 Firefight, or 3 new maps, one remake, and one Firefight for every map pack and make it 1000 MS Points at the most. No Invasion or Firefight maps please. These ruined Reach maps, in my opinion. If they could get back the minds who gave us the great maps of Halo 2, that would be wonderful. They should give us Halo 2 inspired maps. Oh and please, let’s not have maps that come straight from the Campaign. That is the epitome of laziness.

I would love some kind of Delta Halo type map. I love the ancient ruin look.

I wanna see some diversity in themes. Reach feels like all the maps take place during the day on a boring regular planet (Reach).

I want…

Jungle/Ruins style maps like on Delta Halo. Like Sacntuary but more vegitation
Covenant Maps like Midship and New Damnation
City Maps like Headlong (Like constrution site style) or Turf (nice little street/back alley battles)
Snow Maps like Containment or Sidewinder

For the love of all things asthetically pleasing… If I have to look at brown rock and grass and blue skies for over half the maps in the game again… I will throw up. If I wanted to see that kind of stuff I’d go outside and play in my yard.

And please distribute maps pretty evenly some indoor small/med/large asymettrical maps and symmetrical maps… Some small/med/large outdoor asymettrical and symmetrical maps. Don’t make nearly every map in the game a green/brown/blue skied outdoor medium/large asymmetrical map. I could go outside right now travel about a half a mile snap 3 random pictures and it would look like a new map pack for Reach.

EDIT: BTW please hire CA to do a bunch of the maps because I’m really liking what I’m seeing with the new maps from CEA. That is exactly what I’m talking about when it comes to diverse themes for maps. Reach maps don’t even feel sci-fi to me…

I don’t want any more maps with junk floating around on it, or things flying in the backround, I am a really touchy player, is something moves, I shoot as long as there is no team marker over it. I constantly find myself shooting at the paper that floats around on the map Boardwalk, I really don’t want to see random flying crap return to Halo.

Ha! Ha! I did that at first, too. I learned to ignore it, though. But yes, keep that sort of thing out of MP maps, or at least keep it at a minimum. Campaign? That’s fine. It adds to the immersion but it just distracts in a competitive environment.

As long as the maps are completly unique and not from the campain then i will be happy. i prefer maps that you can only play on online. although basing maps on the environment from the campain is ok.

I’m not really picky with maps like layout wise, but I would like to see some with weather, like rain or snow, and maybe randomly the rain or snow will pick up and be heavier or something. Also Some night time maps that are well little by a moon.
