Map voting.

Map voting needs to come back, for the simple reason. Sick of playing either the same map over and over, or the same game mode in BTB or Skirmish, or whatever has different modes.

How someone could defend voting is, quite frankly, beyond me. You must’ve not played the same MCC, Reach and 4 that I have if you still think it is a good feature. All it did was hinder the experience to all of those who actually enjoyed playing more than one gametype every single game. Please, go play a match of BTB in Reach and tell me if it’s any different than what I’m going to state here. Out of my 250+ matches of BTB in Reach, I’d say that 50 of those were of objective gametypes. A 1/5 of my entire matches in BTB were of either Assault or CTF, while 80% were of Slayer. Are you sure that you’re sick of playing the same map and gametype all the time on Halo 5 with a completely random and fair selection? Well, putting voting back into the game is only going to make this scenario worse.

I’d like voting back because I agree with the majority. But boy, it sure would suck if I didn’t.

Some don’t agree with the majority OP.

Ragnarok, ragnarok, exile, ragnarok, longbow, ragnarok. That’s h4 btb for me. Then in slayer all I’d see was haven or that Prometheus not map with red lights and the sword bottom mid (since I can’t remember the name).

@op: 343 just need to even out the percentage of the RNG selection. Voting was awful but I would support a veto for the chance to cancel out replaying the same map.

I think it was called Solace. It was a pretty good map, but not when I had to play it 3 times in a row. Also, I fully support a veto system. It is the best way they could solve the “repeated maps” issue

Doesn’t want to play the same thing over and over but yet wants the very thing that leads to more of that back… Nope sorry I like the way it is now. I get a better variety now that I ever did with voting/vetoing.

No I opted for a veto system instead like in Halo 3. Halo MCC only gets me playing Halo 3, Halo 3, Halo 3 and Halo 3 over and over again in matchmaking.

Solace was it, just needed to see someone say it for me to remember. I think a veto would help but ultimately I think 343 just need to balance the selection out. The issue is the dlc maps get get prioritized more since they’re newer and they like to get them picked more because of that. I imagine their system is setup to try and not let you replay the same map, but here’s the predicament, lobbies always reset after a game, so say 7 new guys join you but you end up playing the same map cuz those 7 guys didn’t play that map last. No idea if that makes sense or if I need to explain more.

I feel like there could be some sort of balance or procedure in place to make sure you didn’t play the same thing over and over. I really like swat. But I have just now played like 4 games in a row of magnum swat and it just gets a little repetitive.
Revision. 5 games now in a row

There needs to be an abort button, so that if all 8 players don’t wanna play Eden slayer they can all press “x” or whatever.

God I -Yoinking!- hate Eden slayer.

Maybe not voting as it would be abused contently, but I would really like to see veto return.

Yeah… no.

Sorry, I don’t like playing a game in a Haven 24/7 style fashion. At least with the new system you have a CHANCE to play those new game modes. With the old system it was just “PICK THIS MAP OR I LEAVE!” or “ALL VOTE Map name!”

It’s not really “fun” when you’re limited to playing a select few maps consistently with no chance of getting the other ones.

The veto system was a terrible system. It encouraged people to skip objective gamemodes just so they could play slayer 24/7.

I can see that. You could probably just make it veto maps not gamemodes though.

The problem with this is that the voting system would be abused. All of the fan favorites would be picked every time and all of the most-disliked maps would be pushed away. I wouldn’t have a problem with this, considering that I very much dislike some maps like Anti-freeze (due to its irregular frequency), but the same maps over and over again will eventually get annoying for most people.

apparently you dont get what hes talking about ITS NOT GAME TYPE HES TALKING ABOUT ITS MAPS the game types are set in different things so like slayer can go on all the maps without other game types coming up.

I would love to see Exile come back, preferably developer made. I think a jungle theme would be a cool twist for it.

Tell me how it’s going to be any different from what it is in MCC and 4. Like ShadowAngel has already stated, “Ragnarok, ragnarok, exile, ragnarok, longbow, ragnarok. That’s h4 btb for me.”. Also, in MCC BTB, Valhalla, Valhalla, Valhalla, Avalanche, Avalanche, Sand Trap, Valhalla. It doesn’t matter the gametype when the same map is always going to be picked. Bungie knew some maps would turn into fan favorites, that’s why the veto system would be implemented, so that these maps wouldn’t be played all the time. In a final note, why are you using caps on me? As far as I’m concerned, my post was pretty tame all around and I told him (the OP) as to why voting shouldn’t return in a reasonable manner.

I personally think it would be kind of cool if every lobby went through all the map rotations (I.E if you start a game of slayer and dont back out you’d start on Mercy then go to Regret so on so fourth.

I would say no to this. Map voting leads to playing the same map over and over.

What would be good instead of at-matching-time voting/veto would be a preference screen you could set ahead of time.

It would list the maps and game types and you could click-select two check-boxes:

  • Play more often
  • Do not play

Then incorporate these preferences during matching time.

You do not like Tankworld Action Sack?, fine, you will never be placed into it.

You like Strongholds on The Rig? You will be matched more frequently into it.

The trade-off would be longer matching times while the searching algorithm parses through.
