Greetings. I have heard a lot involving people finding issues with how the ‘owner’ and ‘original author’ work with the new file browser. It would seem that whoever edits your map appears as the owner and original author. This is concerning due to the ability for someone to make any small change to the map and then appear as though they made it.
Is there any word on this getting fixed?
It is possible that this is simply a glitch given that the ability to overwrite the original creator text pretty much defeats its own purpose.
sad its happening still but its the internet lol. Btw this is my thread now and im the OP.
Two easy solutions exist for this!
A.) Add a ‘signature’ to your map! Something well hidden that only you know about so that you can shut those thieves right up!
B.) Save multiple versions of the map. Each save will have a time stamp and that can be used against someone who is claiming the map is theirs because there’s no way you could have stolen a map three weeks before the thief stole it!

yes, these are two things you can do. It just confuses me though, why even have an original creator text if it just changes like this, it defeats the purpose.

It would be an honor.
The issue with this is that it dicourages people from making maps given that someone could just come and claim it to be their own. And to be honest I completely agree. Forging a map takes time and effort, and the fact that someone else can just say that they made it is concerning.

Nah, I’m the OP, bow before me forum mortals :3
Being serious, that is a problem with the map stealing. And I wouldn’t like to make multiple saves as “timestamps” or add a “hidden signature” just so I can prove my map is mine and not anyone else. It does defeat the purpose of “original author” text.

We all betta put sum respek on this man’s name
Isn’t it sad that people would try to steal someone elses creativity?
Lol people are strange, it’s like you drawing a picture of spomgebob and I said I did it, like wth
This is my problem.
Literally everything in the browser; maps, gametypes and prefabs were all made by me and now everyone who plays Halo 5 is taking all my things.
First this company called 343 claimed they made Halo 5 and now all these random players are claiming they made all the things in the browser…
Remember it was all me! CHRISPOCALYP5E!!! Gets dragged out of building by 343 enforcers
I think its because people click “save as” rather than “save” on other people’s maps. It then makes a new file rather than overwriting the old one with a “edited by” or whatever. I cant check/test this however since I’m not home.

Perhaps. However, even if you saved it as a new map the original creator should stay the same.
This needs fixing. Pronto.
I hate when all work I’ve put down is stolen by someone.
