Map sizes in Halo Xbox One?

How big do you want the maps to be in Halo Xbox One?

I personally would like to see a lot of fairly big maps, although I defiantly love small arena style maps

We need a balance.

Small (Arena)
Medium (Smaller scale objective?)
Large (Large scale objective/slayer, gametypes like Dominion and others that surface for it)
Huge (Really big maps. These will be for larger slayer games (if player count increases), really big objective (invasion?), and can also serve well with Forge)

There should also be some Forge canvases. One really big one with variety, but perhaps one or two somewhat “smaller” ones with a rare environment like snow or desert.

A balance like 3,3,3,3. Or even 4,3,3,2. Then one or two Forge specific maps.

I enjoy playing small to medium most myself but definitely would love to see a few really big new Big Team maps in Halo 5.

Just for the heck of it and since the Xbox One could handle it…

Hugeass

I’d love to see a map this size in Halo Xbox One. Especially with Longsword/Pelicans.

I’d rather see no small map’s, I’m mainly sick of seeing small map’s in Reach, H4 and I understand the reason why they were so small compared to what they could be but there really need’s to be bigger map’s since it’s kind of silly to have a banshee constantly hitting kill boundaries, the tank’s barely having any room to move.

Basically they need to look at something like Battlefield since they could make huge map’s then use part of the big map’s for smaller team based game’s like Battlefield does for with Rush,Conquest,Team slayer. That way we see more map’s instead of less in each game playlist.

Small maps aren’t made for vehicles…

If you’re trying to drive a Scorpion or something through Haven then you’ve completely misunderstood the map.

Its also kind of silly to be able to outmaneuver everyone with the banshee, no hard limits means I can fly as high as possible and basically just camp with a banshee. Also, battlefield’s “small” maps suck.

Of course small map’s aren’t meant for vehicle’s, my point is in Battlefield the map’s are so well structured that any part of the map’s could be split and made into a fun game type.

Halo needs sa mixed bag of map sizes.

For the 4v4 game modes, small to medium maps are required.

For 8v8 or bigger (if player count increases) then larger maps are required.

I would like to see a few more Forge World Size maps, where the 1 map can be many.

Halo should always have the following maps sizes on release.

6 x Small Maps
6 x Medium Size Maps
6 x Large Maps
2 x Forge World Size Maps

20 maps on release. That should keep us entertained for a while.

You could also look at Forge World for an example, this 1 map has made countless of small, medium, large and extra large maps.

BF maps layout are done very smart, and small games exist, and the map boundary has been massively reduced.

I would really like to see a Forge World that is in a Human City. This 1 map could have the following maps built in.
Turf (H2)
Terminal (H2)
Head Long (H2)
Boardwalk (HR)
Perdition (H4)

Battlefield isn’t an arena game, so the quality of maps does not need to be as high to support good gameplay. In halo, where sightlines, jumps, bases, and weapon placement are so important, maps are best when designed for a specific gametype. Instead of integrating a bunch of maps into one pallet, 343 should spend less time and create three maps, one optimized for slayer/ffa, on for objective, and one for btb.

Completely Agree.

But think we need much more maps at launch, even if nearly half are remakes.
Need the following:
6 x Small Maps
6 x Medium Size Maps
6 x Large Maps
2 x Forge World Size Maps

We should have at least 2 Forge World Maps at least. And are very different.
I would like to see a Forge World map that is a City.

It also doesn’t help that all of Halo 4’s small maps are too big and all the big maps are too small and confined.

Small maps are great but I would love to see some new large rectangular maps. Halo 4 has some large maps but they all have layouts that split the teams up into smaller groups and you never see the large scale action from maps like Blood Gulch/Coagulation/Hemmorage from previous Halos. I would love to see a team size increase and have some Forge World size maps, or even a blank canvas like Forge Island but just totally flat land instead of being mostly air.

Yes, I’d really like big maps where the main ground action happens in a few areas that the map just sort of flows into. I really love the Battlefield map designs and I’d say they rival Halo’s.

It would be nice if they could add something like 12v12 or 16v16

They’ll defiantly have the power for 32v32 on Xbox One, but I think the highest they’ll go will be 16v16. I mean if we have maps that are larger than; Headlong, Waterworks and especially Containment, then I’m sure 16v16 is a must, but I fell like halo won’t have 32v32 for a long time

Blood Gulch and Coag are the same map, can’t say I remember hemmorage but the name sounds familiar

2x Tiny (CQC Based)
6x Small (Such as Skyline, Longest)
2x Medium-Infantry (Such as Hang em High, The Pit)
1x Medium-Vehicle (Such as Perdition, Complex, Blood Gulch)
3x Large (Such as Avalanche, Containment)

General rule:
If it can fit a warthog, it’s medium.
If it can fit a tank, it’s large.

How would you incorporate an arena into a large map, and still have good map quality?

You could make giant infantry-based maps and cut off portions without any issue, but once you try to incorporate vehicle play that’s where the challenge begins.

BF has giant maps, even bigger than Halo’s BTB maps, so multiple arenas can fit in a single map. The same can’t be said for current player counts and map sizes. The arenas are also lackluster to begin with (warehouse, loading docks…)

I’m not saying it’s impossible, but I’ll believe it when I see it.
