I’m so tired of powerhouse. been playing it since the beta. would love to turn off high noon and beaver crap, too.
First off I want to put this point down, all the suggestions given thus far, the game simply doesn’t have a big enough population to add this amount of fine tuning for search options to the game now for Matchmaking (honestly some options you choose in the Composer or even some of the Ranked playlists take too long now to find players).
As much as I understand the need or want for a map preference option and bringing back vetoing/voting for maps in matchmaking is all going to lead towards:
-
Matches taking longer to get into a match with a vetoing/voting system. I am sure the majority of players now would rather be able to get into a game, rather than worry about what map to play on.
-
The same maps most likely will still keep coming up if you were to be able to select certain maps that you don’t want included or (the big one here) you won’t be able to find a match with the composer settings you already chosen. What if you turn off all the popular maps in the list, but only turn on the ones that are not as popular? This will lead towards matches taking forever for yourself to find players most likely, thereby going back to Point No.1.
-
Points 1 and 2 above WILL lead towards more people quitting in Matchmaking. There is a history of this happening in past Halo games. Without a Join in Progress feature (which we desperately need now for Matchmaking at this point), points Nos.1 and 2 I don’t think should still happen regardless at this point. Even Halo 5 and Infinite do not have the vetoing/voting systems and people have been fine without it so far.
Honestly I think the searching for matches could use a little more fine tuning for a more balanced amount of popular/less popular maps to come up. If we had Join in Progress for Matchmaking, I think this will solve the quitting issue with Matchmaking in General pretty close to entirely.
However, if were talking about Custom Games for the CGB, I would be in favor of bringing all the points I described above only for this mode as a option to toggle on for setting up a Custom Game in the Browser.
Bottom Line: Let the Servers handle the searching for people to earn XP, worry about winning a match, stop worrying about what map to play on in the Matchmaking environment (if your tired of playing the same maps, adjust your composer settings or go into CGB). Go into CGB if you want to play on the maps you want to play on, its the biggest reason why we now have the CGB, you can choose what maps, modes, etc. you want to play on. Matchmaking is a more serious environment for Stat Progression and lets leave it at that.
