I honestly cannot comprehend why there is not a playlist with only DLC maps in it, i’m not badmouthing, i’m just baffled.
There would literally be no downside to adding it. That means, if people would like to be guaranteed a match on a DLC map, they’ll get one.
And before I see a “oh it’ll thin out the online population more weh weh” if you think about it with even the least part of logic, there will still the exact same amount of people online. Yeah, it would effect the matchmaking of other playlist if there were about 100 people online in total, but with amount of people we still have actively playing it’ll be no-existent. Now if you wan’t an example of a poorly populated playlist: Team Throwdown - which I might add, is a community requested playlist. Now considering how many more thousand people are asking to be able to play their DLC quickly and without having to gamble everybody in their lobby having it, then to also gamble if it’s actually picked, in honest fairness there is no reason to not a DLC only playlist.
They’ll just be playing the exact thing they want. A DLC map, in which they can get their DLC achievements and enjoy/appreciate the content they’ve paid a premium for.
One playlist, for everybody with all the DLC maps. Simple…
There are already numerous other threads regarding this topic, was there really a need to make another one?
And in each of those threads I have said why a playlist that contains all the DLC is impossible. So let me once again explain. The different map packs contain different size maps, which in turn require different team sizes.
Crimson and Castle - large maps made for big team game types (team size of 8v86 but will work with a minimum of 6v6).
Majestic and Bullseye - small maps made for 4v4 game types and free for all.
This means that if all the maps were put into 1 single playlist, the team size would have to be 8v8 (with the minimum of 6v6) to accomodate the bigger maps. Teams this size wouldn’t work on the smaller maps and would make the game unplayable, especially on Skyline the smallest map in the game (think of how easy it would be for 8 people to spawn trap the other team). Same thing applies to the bigger maps if the team size was 4v4. This would make games on the bigger maps long and drawn out, with the score limit possible never being reached a lot of the time.
My idea would be 2 rotational playlists that change with each matchmaking update. Start with a big team playlist for Crimson and Castle maps, then switch to a smaller team playlist featuring Majestic and Bullseye maps. Hell, they could even throw in a couple of Forge Island variants into each one, since technically it is DLC (not sure why it hasn’t been made a playlist requirement since its free anyway).
Honestly though I do think its odd they haven’t got one playlist for DLC only. Surely they could rotate between big team maps for a couple of weeks, then standard size maps for a couple of weeks. That way those of us who have paid for the maps actually get to play them! I love Ragnarok but hell it’s getting repetitive!
there is alot of threads on this topic, because its such a simple ask by alot of people.
8v8 on the ‘smaller’ maps would be amazing… its hilarious how members on here are so quick to defend 343. just lets us try it!! see what happens?!
1 week, try an ‘DLC only, no vanilla maps’ team slayer 8v8 playlist.
the amount of people sick of playing ragnarok and exile who want to play the Halo 4 maps they’ve paid for is obviously quite big. just today the matchmaking forum is full of people saying the same thing.
its for cheevo hunters, its for people sick of boring vanilla maps, its for the people who may be playing halo for the first time when they buy GOTY edition…
