Okay. So I purchased the Halo 4 Map Pass from GameStop yesterday (12/11/12) and received (2) codes to activate. One for the Corbulo Emblem, and one for XB3 2000 pts Halo 4 Map Pass.
I redeemed the codes through my Xbox 360 via dashboard. Downloaded the Emblem, then received 2000 pts. My first thought. “Why did it give me the points when they could have given me the damn map pass content?” Anyway, onto the next phase.
So the instructions says to purchase it from the dashboard. Okay, easier said than done. Only problem is, nothing on the dash says Halo 4 Map Pass. I see the “Map Pack w/8 Achievements” and figured okay, same thing, right? Clicking on it doesn’t give me any better results. I see > Ops: Preview, Fwd Unto Dawn, Halo 4 Bowl, News and Stats, Avatar Collection, Xbox Video, Concept Theme, Sign Up for Halo Infinity Challenge, and Halo 4: Crimson Map Pack. So deducing all that was available, I downloaded the Map Pack.
The only disclosure was if you already own the War Game Map Pass, DO NOT purchase this content here or you’ll be charged again. Well, I don’t own it and haven’t downloaded it before. After the download, I noticed I was only charged 800 pts. Weird I thought, am I suppose to purchase the other maps individually along with helmets? Why not have them all together? No biggie, but when I realized I didn’t see my helmets, I decided to do some searching around.
Today I called GameStop and they told me they had nothing to do with the codes and to contact MS Live/Support. I did that and they said I purchased the wrong content! Okay, can you guys give me the code for the other maps or credit me the pts for the map pack so that I can get the correct content? Pretty much at this point I knew they weren’t going to help me out. Microsoft wins again. I was a little upset because I’ve read the directions and did what it told me to do. No where on my dashboard or on any of the other ‘blades’ did I see the map pass content.
I got 1200 remaining pts that is pretty much useless because I don’t purchase content or anything and the only reason I did so was for the map pass and helmets because I know that I’m going to invest a lot of time into this game that’ll be worth it. I’m not going to purchase more pts so that I can purchase the other maps individually and NOT get the helmets that I originally paid for through a retailer. It makes no sense that they give you a code, and you have to “re-purchase” what you paid for through another form of currency.
CS told me to come here on the forums for help and that they can help me. I asked her, “How are moderators suppose to help me, if YOU couldn’t?” The answer I received is that unlike most forums, moderators here are actually employed by 343 and can assist customers further with DLC content issues.
So… what can you guys do for me? All I want, is to receive my map pass that I paid $27.05 for through GameStop and receive my helmets as claimed via the flyer and ads. I don’t need the damn points. If you can help, I’d really appreciate it because I’m looking forward to playing the other maps.
[I’ve worked on Halo: Anniversary on redesigning the anniversary and remake maps over at Certain Affinity. I’m someone who appreciates all the work that goes into balancing a map, going through hours of playtests to ensure that players will enjoy them, and that there are as least issues when it comes to spawn points, item/weapon spawn times, and more - by the way, I’ve found a few areas/walls with killzones, and spawn points that entraps players between walls. Other than that, great job!]
