Map Packs in MM

Hello there. As we already know there’ve been releases of Map Packs for Halo 4. Something that keeps bothering me is the fact that we can’t actually play those Maps in the Matchmaking (anymore)… There are options in the previous Halo games where you mark weather you want to get matched up with people who purchased the maps, which you can’t do in Halo 4… I concider this quite unfortunate, because many people paid for these maps and expects to play them online, therefore there should be either a Gametype or an option where we choose to meet up with people who purchased these maps. I’m aware of that there have been a Gametype only for the DLC maps, but the fact that they removed it is just ridiculous…

In my opinion, I think my second idea is way better, because you choose weather you want to meet up with people with the maps or not, therefore you can play on those maps in any Gametype you want, BTB, Infection, Odball etc… In fact, now when I think about it, the only oddball here is our present situation… See what I did there… Oddball joke…

All they need to do is permanently have Crimson DLC, Majestic DLC and Castle DLC playlists available. It would take care of all the people who, quite rightly, come on here to bemoan the fact that they’ve spent good money on map packs but can’t play on them.

Why three separate playlists? Because team sizes for the different map packs need to be different due to their range in size, not to mention the fact that some people may have only purchased one or two of the map packs.

Sure, the populations would probably be horrible, a few hundred and no more, but at least people would have somewhere to go which guarantees they can play on the maps they’ve paid money for.

All the current situation does is alienate players and put them off purchasing map packs in the future.

I believe there’s already an automatic preference in matchmaking for people who have the same DLC as you, it’s just that, due to the low population playing the game right now, coupled with an even lower amount of people who own the DLC, the wait times would be far too long so the game ignores the preference after a while and chooses a lobby with people who don’t have the same DLC as you.

They told me that war games pass have map pack’s and there are no maps… Only time that i have that maps is in custom game… But, i can’t get achievements that way… In Halo 5, DON’T buy map packs… Wait for GOTY edition of game… If you give 25-50$, you will not be able to play those maps…

Exactily, I don’t see the frigging point in having the maps the first weeks of the releases, and then remove it, completely unecessary.

All the map packs are available in every other current playlist. The problem is (as Blues Fan said) due to the games low population and the fact that many of the remaining population refuses to buy the map packs. If just 1 person in the lobby has no DLC then it wont show as voting option as at all. The best way to increase the chances of getting DLC maps is to party up with a full team of DLC owners and search. I get the DLC maps quite often by doing this.

DLC playlists are a waste of time. I’ve read people commenting, saying stuff like “most people want DLC playlists” or “343 are letting us down not having DLC playlists”. Yet when a DLC playlist is introduced, barely anybody actually plays it. The truth is DLC playlists in any Halo game are historically known for being among the lowest populated. Halo 3, and especially Halo Reach and Halo 4, have had DLC playlists where the population has dropped to the 150-200 people range after only a week of the DLC being released. This is why 343 remove them. They simply divide the community and take up hopper space which could be used for another more popular playlist or to free up server space to improve matchmaking quality.

BTB DLC will encourage people to buy Game of the Year edition or buy the War Games pass. Right now, 343 are not supporting their own content which is a bit ridiculous.

A DLC playlist will gather popularity but it has to be implemented right. On Reach, we had one and it gave double exp and I remember a lot of people playing it. As were, the Anniversary playlists.

Well said, I thought why wouldn’t they do the same with Halo Reach? To me it worked just fine, I don’t see reasons not to continue that way…

Double EXP DLC Playlists sound like a good incentive.
