Map pack DLC codes -- only in prerelease copies?

Is the Anniversary map pack DLC code available in all retail copies of the game or only in those that are “pre-release” copies? I know that the codes for the grunt funeral skull and the avatar armor are pre-release bonuses but cant tell about the map pack code. Dont want to buy a regular copy but be surprised if no dlc code is included (and switching between reach disc and CE disc sounds like it would be a PITA for matchmaking).

Sorry if this has been answered before but I could not find an answer online or when searching the forum.

the map pack code should be in every copy of CEA.

wasnt in mine the DLC map pack but i have the armor and the skill :frowning: that sucks!

Thanks for the quick replies – can anyone confirm that the map pack code is supposed to be included in regular copies?

It should be included as far as I know…are you from the US? Did you buy from Gamestop/Best Buy or a major retailer?

If you bought from a small mom and pop store that might why…but go back and tell then you want a new copy with the DLC

Well if it was from Gamestop, there were some issues a few months ago with them jacking cards out of the limited and standard edition games.

That’s because Gamestop likes to sell used games as new. They’ve tried to be sneaky and sell me an opened package as new before. Halo CEA was my last pre-order with Gamestop. I won’t be going there anymore.

Think about this for two seconds:

  • Pre-order bonuses are minor, not major components. Without the maps CEA would come with no multiplayer option.

  • The pre-order bonuses are consistently described as pre-order bonuses. The maps have consistently been described as part of CEA and never as pre-order bonuses.

In other words, there’s no rational reason to think the maps might be a pre-order bonus, which would explain why you can’t find anything about it in your searches – it’s too obvious to warrant explaining.

I have the same problem, no code in my copy, this upsets me as well.

May I ask what region is your copy? PAL or NTSC?
