Yerp, it seems some copies of the game ship without the anniversary map pack code. The back of the cover of these copies, while similar to the “normal” ones, lack the Xbox Live logo and any real mention of the multiplayer component (which actually is on the disc, after all).
The main reason these copies exist, I think, is for Microsoft to be able to sell the game in countries where Xbox Live is not supported/offered. Problem is, evidently they’re being sold in countries where Xbox Live IS supported. My copy (which doesn’t have the map pack code or Xbox Live logo on the back) was about 15% cheaper than the retail price, so if you see the game being sold on the cheap, make sure you check the back cover for the Xbox live logo.
It’d be nice to get some official confirmation on this.

I also did not receive the code but i got the game for normal price there was no price drop when i picked it up.

You know that tey can open the Cases, taking out the codes and reseal it?? Thats not a big deal. Just look it up on ebay …there are tons of these codes offered by just one person…

Sweden. I got my copy from a well known swedish online store.

Yes, but even if that were the case (again, I believe this is Microsoft providing a different SKU, so it’s not) they still need to at least somehow make a note to of the missing content to customers, which hasn’t been done by either Microsoft, 343i or any store I’ve seen.

It’s possible this issue is limited to the PAL region… is your copy a PAL version too?
