So I’ve just got into forging and this is the first time I’ve tried to make an actual map, and I kind have no idea what makes a good map, how to scale things, what layout to have, how to balance power ups/weapons, basically how to make a good map. Some help would be greatly appreciated

In their forums they have lists of tutorials etc.
You can also pick up a lot through their discussions etc.
