This is a horrible yet complicated bug, so I’ll get right to it.
I built a map in forge that took me around 8 hours if not more. During one of these sessions of forge I lagged out of my game (even though I was the only one in it) and was returned to the main menu. No multiplayer modes were available and my stats would not load. Since this has happened before (but not during a forge game, normally during a warzone game) I simply quit out of the game and started it again. However, when I went back into the forge lobby and tried to load the map, which was built on Parallax, the name of the file did not show up in the forge lobby (although it did show up in the map selection menu), and instead of showing the background of Parallax, it showed the background of whatever map was last selected. The file information was also not displayed; instead it simply said “Retrieving Data…” perpetually. The map loads fine when the game is started, and changes can be made. However, the only way to change the map is to select “save map.” “Save as…” does not work and the text on the bottom left says “Saving… failed.”
In the lobby, the file name and description can be changed, but in game they remain the same as the name and description of the file when it was “corrupted.” Bookmarking the file and selecting it from my bookmarks does not solve the problem. I have yet to try having someone else save the map in forge, but I doubt that will resolve the issue.
The consequences of this bug are:
- The file’s data will never load in lobby, and its name and description IN-GAME cannot be changed.
- None of the games played on this file will be able to be watched in theater. When the film is played in theater, it creates a strange glitch where the movements of the players in that game are shown but on a different map. (NOTE: There is a way to fix this by selecting another variant of the map the file was created on before loading the corrupted file and playing the game.)
- I’m honestly not sure if this “corruption” could get worse, and I could lose my map permanently. As I said before, I spent a great amount of time on my map, and I would really hate to lose it.
If anyone has experienced this bug and/or has a solution, please post a reply.
