Utopie and Paradiso have to be removed from matchmaking, that’s the only fix I can think of.
Removing the only good maps from that playlist would never help.
Paradiso should be be favored over Utopie in BTB. The post is my opinion however some may reflect the thoughts of the community (i.e. BANSHEE)
Paradiso is geared more towards map control. The island’s mountain provides an all encompasing vantage point which with teamwork provides game winning scenarios. Utopie removes this feature allowing more movement on the perimeter.
So which should be chosen?
Cons:Utopie
-Everybody is in a mad dash for the Banshee(or the power weapons).
Once a person gets the Banshee they rain death. Sure, the Banshee can be knocked out by Team DMR and/or the power weapons. Though people have “gotten better” by using the Banshee’s unlimited evade abillity.
-Power weapons are easily accessible from map start. This ensures there is less conflict over the “god” weapons which should be hard to get and therefore less rewarding to pick up
Rockets by the spawns. Laser on the bridge.
-Not being able to climb the middle mountain or the one by red spawn to their fullest height.
Pros:
–The forged bridge
Paradiso
Cons: The forged “bridge” slows down gameplay and thus is rendered a less used pathway.
Pros: There are no soft-kill zones on the map.
-This is one of the few maps that debuts the Scorpion Tank. 2 Scorpion Tanks and 2 Banshees for each team nullifies vehicle abuse since those vehicles are bent on destroying each other first.
I still like both. Maybe if we had a combination of the best elements. We could call this “Reverie”?

They were never good and most people from the community has expressed their dislike towards the map. This is a fact, Paradiso and Utopie are equally broken.
It can be easilly dominated by the Banshee and snipers and once a team takes control of the mountain you are gonna get spawn trapped to death.
Best maps? not really.
I really think that there has to be a better way to utilize that island. It just doesn’t seem to me that Paradiso and Utopie work.
I’d have to think it over in how the areas could be improved, but I think a community map that takes on an entirely new function would be better than attempting to fix Paradiso or Utopie.

It needs more pathways and structures on the mountain, methinks.
Hell, I would like to see a part of it where its kind of like trying to scale the mountain in Ice Climbers (with more teleports and lifts, of course).

I think the main thing is that it needs a drastic overhaul. Certainly there is something interesting that could be done with the space. It would be helpful if 343 would address what’s going on with the community maps, if they are adding new ones/how they are doing it.

I think it’s still possible to save these maps. However, a new map may be in order. But where do we put it?

Most BTB Forge maps used Hemmorrhage, Alaska(and Montana), and the Island play spaces. This is bogging down the gameplay to those areas specific features. These however are the most “forgeable” spaces, so most map ideas come with those playspaces in mind. The one exception to this is Trident, which is on the water. I was suprised to play Trident for it was totally different in map layout. Maybe we need more of these?
I for one would like another Community BTB playlist to test out new maps might acheive this. After a month or so, the best maps are petitioned to be installed into the BTB playlist.

What I’m specifically saying is that Paradiso just doesn’t seem to work. Rather than trying to make it function with its current layout, perhaps it should be replaced with an Island level that works better.
I could be wrong, but if there is one map that people seem to universally hate it is Paradiso/Utopie. Once again, that’s just what I’ve gathered in my own experiences.
I do agree, we don’t want to have too many overlap levels, however. I should really go browse back through some of the better maps I’ve seen made in BTB, there are some interesting ideas in those.
I would love to see one utilize the Sand Tunnel between the beach and Hemorrhage.

I agree. The space is so nice. There has just got to be a way to make it work. I was so excited about this map pre-release.

That’s really disappointing. I was excited to hear that Headlong was being remade until I realized the Banshee would still be OP and ruin the experience.
Whenever the banshee boost is fixed, is when this map will be playable again.
Shame really, since I did enjoy the whole island thing it has going on.

Yeah, I was wondering where he got that from.
Paradiso and Utopie aren’t really bad maps. They are hated so much because of the OP Banshee (which needs a huge nerf), OP Scropian Tank, and DMR campers on the ledges overlooking the bases. I like how in Utopie you can’t get all the way to the top of the mountain, since you can see almost the entire map from up there. I think someone should make a version with an extra Warthog, no DMR starts, No Banshees, Tanks, or DMR starts and see how it plays out.
Paradiso and Utopia are among the two best Big Team maps, they should not have been removed but tweaked a little to improve game play.

No tanks (only in a “Paradiso Heavy” playlist option as in halo 3)
The top of the central mountain out of bounds.
This would free up movement across the map and use of vehicles.
All maps should be regularly re-vamp by 343i once every few months to move around power weapons ect to prevent stale and predictive game play. This would also reduce the ability of teams to dominate as strategies would have to constantly evolve and it would also reduce fighting over power weapons to a degree.
