There is a really common thing that has been happening in H4. There are a LARGE amount of different settings in H4 and many different versions of maps. We have:
-Infinity Slayer
-Legendary Slayer
-Legendary Slayer BRs
-Team Slayer
-Slayer Pro
-Team Throwdown
-Big Team Slayer
-Team Snipers
-SWAT
These are all different settings on how to play the same gametype (slayer). Most of them also have their own versions of maps. All of these versions are in some way stripped down versions except Infinity. They all remove things like Ordinances, Personal Loadouts, Radar, Armour Abilities, etc… The fact is that there are so many different versions of stripped down settings because obviously there are many people that don’t like this massive amount of crap that has been added to Halo and is getting in the way of the core gameplay that makes this series unique and great. I would bet that there would be more alternate versions that involved the removal of sprint and descope if it were possible.
I mean really, there are so many things going on in this game that we don’t even have enough buttons on the controller to do everything that is in this game. That is why you cannot change grenades when you have an ordinance option. This causes people to constantly mistakenly choose an ordinance when they mean to switch to a different grenade.
I really think that the game and community would benefit from a movement towards a far more classic game in H5 (or updating H4 for this would be even better, but unlikely I assume).
On a side note about sprint, I assume that the reason for switching to have sprint is that it is really common now in FPS games these days. However, is that what we want? Wouldn’t it be better to be unique? That way we are not just another of the cookie cutter FPS games? And isn’t it a bad strategy to be all so similar? Then all the games are simply dividing the same audience. Halo should be more unique in gameplay so that it fills a different niche of desired gameplay. Let CoD, Battlefield, Titanfall, Medal of Honor, and all those other games do their thing and we do ours. Let them aspire to be like us like in the good old days and not the other way around.
Probably because Infinity was a bad idea, and 343i is learning that gametypes are better without most of their changes–i.e. Team Slayer and Legendary BRs added to the Infinity Slayer playlist.
I a glad that 343 is seeing that Infinity was a bad idea. As someone said earlier, it is covered in trash. When I played Legendary Slayer BRs yesterday for the first time, I said to myself that this is how default H4 should have been for the most part. That is really saying something since I HATE radar and flinch/no descope.
That being said, I think that sprint and flinch should also be removed for the next game while descope should be readded. Flinch is just not required when we have descope and descope is far more skillful, less random, and a well established part of the Halo franchise. Sprint has its pluses and minuses that can be argued on both sides, but overall I feel that it has a very negative effect on the maps that are being made.

BOOM! The next Halo should follow the KISS principle… keep it simple stupid. lol. Really though, Halo does not needs all that extra crap to be good.

Ah yes, that goes without saying.

Yeah, Halo is a game that doesn’t need gimmicks to be good, just solid game mechanics, well thought out maps, and of course the most important ingredient… love.
What’s starting to piss me off is the map variants. I go through the trouble of learning the weapon spawns/timers on a map, and then with each different game type it is in, those spawns change. It doesn’t bother me so much when I’m rolling solo, because I’ll just main a single playlist for a few weeks so that it is consistent, but then I play with my clan guys and they’re switching playlists every other game as people are hopping in and out and it is a pain in the -Yoink- to deal with.
I think that having a very solid, classic base gameplay we can reduce much of the different game settings and maps can be done away with.
I think that most of the changed map variants deal mostly with weapon placement and other little things like jump boxes, but these will be mostly fixed by the removal of personal ordinances and putting weapons on the map from the start again.
There will always be those very different settings like SWAT and snipers, but good base settings will cut down on most of the other settings like legendary, team slayer, and infinity.
